Forcing Upgrade

Solid But Challenging Filing

The process of inputting information was generally straight-forward. Clarifying questions helped ensure accuracy of inputs. It was frustrating to discover I had to upgrade to the Premier Edition midway through because I had a 1099B form, and inputs for 1099B were not easy. After I completed the Federal return, there were challenges getting the state form for Minnesota to load, so I had to wait over an hour on the call line to get assistance with a new download. Both times I called the help desk, both Valerie and Diane were very courteous and helpful in resolving my issues. The e-filing process is easy. I appreciate the check for audit flags that evaluates your vulnerability to an audit.
What's great about it: Easy e-filing process
What's not so great: Difficulty loading state software

Nickel and dime

I used to love TurboTax, but now that I have to file schedule E, it's become more bother than it's worth. First, it costs me a fortune after all the add-ons I have to purchase in order to file, then it has no ability to personalize questions to your situation, so the questions seemingly become endless. It's a lot of money to spend for something that has a very formulaic process. I'm done with TurboTax. Last year using it.

What's not so great: ADD ON FEES! Where's the help?

It's All About the End User

I had to make a call to TT for Customer Service/Advisor. The wait was ~30 minutes, but the Rep took her time and addressed ALL of my inquiries. The resources within the tool were helpful, easy to follow and understand.
I assisted my parents with their return (another software), the wait to talk with Rep was 1 hour and 20 minutes and the call dropped/disconnected 4 minutes into the conversation. The resources within that tool were not always helpful or easy to understand.
Thanks Turbo Tax for another successful year of tax preparation and awesome customer service!
What's great about it: Great customer service support - live call and resources within app

2014 Taxes

It kept hanging up and I had to keep killing the application in Windows Task Manager. Never lost any data, but it was annoying and did not instill confidence

totally disappointed with its deductible

You could have stated that anything you evaluate on your own will not help reduce your taxes because you need all kind of forms attached to the deductible items when you donate in the previous year; your software can't recognize any special tools donated to charity that has a high market value to tool & die makers, etc!
This is the first time I have sincerely been extremely disappointed with Turbo Tax.
Now I have to talk to a CPA to see if I can save anything of the more than 500 lines of tool donations I inputted!
What's great about it: At least the delay action to Oct 15 worked
What's not so great: Its deductible misled its usefulness
