Just answer the questions and you can't go wrong. The side by side comparisons of last year vs this year are extremely helpfull
What's great about it: Answer the questions and you can't go wrong
What's not so great: Sometimes difficult to get to a specific area

The ease of using Turbo Tax and saving money
on April 14, 2015

My tax situation seems to be increasingly more difficult every year. Turbo Tax has made things so easy for me. Plus I'm saving a lot of money by not paying a CPA.
What's great about it: Very easy to follow instructions and review & correct, etc.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

It could have been worse...

I was dreading having to do our annual tax return thinking that we were going to pay more than ever because of my husband's severance package. However, I was happily surprised that we ended up owing considerably less, almost half, of the initial calculation thanks to the credits and deductions TurboTax found which I would have overlooked had I completed the return manually.
What's great about it: Helped me find all credits & deductions
What's not so great: Pricey software
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Great product, very intricate for handling changes as you go. By the way, the best way to delete a K-1 no longer in use is to do the Review, and when the error shows the form, click Forms in the top-right hand corner. Then click Delete.
What's great about it: bring forward from last year, upload dividends
What's not so great: needed to google to find how to delete an obsolete K-1

Reasonably Useable

Of course the whole "upgrade" from Deluxe to Premier just to get basic features historically included in the Deluxe was a huge fiasco. The "upgrade" process worked very smoothly though.
Very confusing that an HSA contribution from an IRA does not show up on the summary completion pages and there's no note as to why.
Not made clear that many of the miscellaneous items with Start buttons on the completion sheet do not need to be reviewed at all. Even a note that "this does not apply to most filers" would be helpful to avoid wasting time Starting stuff that could just be skipped without the program balking.
What's great about it: It'sDeductible for donated item valuation, guided walk-thru
What's not so great: Some unnecessary/confusing items

under charity miles driven there was no way to enter year end total miles driven in various amounts so I did an overide and entered total mileage. but when it was time to file my return it kept asking me to cancel my edit entry and would not let me file the return. I did a another work around by dividing my total milage by 12months. it then let me file but that was wrong because my mileage varied in different months.
What's great about it: step by step is very helpful when you dont want to think about what you need to do to file your return
What's not so great: The program has some bugs

Software Buggy
on April 14, 2015

Used it on Windows XP (yeah, yeah); if there was an item with a pop-up e.g. pop-up to pay for state filing, or pop-up to save as pdf, if the forms weren't saved manually, the software hung up and had to be terminated by going to process manager and then killing it. Bad software and lack of validation. Did not have this problem for 2011, 2012, 2013, only for 2014.
What's great about it: Hassle free form filling
What's not so great: Software buggy, kept hanging
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)
