What's great about it: Guided, well done. Can get to forms if needed
What's not so great: Ponzi Scheme Theft indirectly covered, Can be erased by program is not careful

Longtime Turbo Tax User Going Elsewhere

Additional costs are out of control. I am certain that it will be cheaper and easier to hire a professional next year.

issues with 2014 rental info

Very frustrating this year working with Turbo Tax--when filling out rental info the types of expenses are not called the same thing on HUD forms-it needs to be consistent and clear ,and was not. Also, there needs to be more help boxes on the rental section period-it was a NIGHTMARE to figure some of this stuff out. I felt like Turbo Tax needs to be updated on all of the rental sections to more accurately reflect the current questions taxpayers have-the IRS has closed their rental dept,so couldn't get help there either,ugh!

Had to Pay but Minimized It

We only have one small rental property and that's only because the parents are gone now. It's a lot of paperwork and turbo tax usually helps with the entries. This year had difficulty with the pop up boxes showing up behind the return making it difficult to read - some of that was probably operator error on the new computer! In the end, we figured it out by re-reading a lot of information and then entering in the boxes. Next year will be simpler with the program pre-loading this year's information.
What's great about it: Easy to enter fields
What's not so great: difficulty with rental expenses and the changes this year

Decent, but problems this year

Decent, but problems E-filing. Software created problems that made it hard to efile. Had to get phone support!
What's great about it: Stil comprehensive
What's not so great: Glitches in E-filing. Blocking me on errors that are not mine, but software problems!

Tax liability seems a bit off

I'm going to hire a tax professional to review my taxes again. The tax liability calculated by turbotax doesn't match the tax tables -- even for basic income. I think we're paying more taxes than we should, but I want someone to review and confirm it.

What's not so great: Not sure I trust it
