Turbo Tax was able to walk me through filing my tax return and show possible tax deductions available to me.
What's great about it: Knew of all the deductions available to my return.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Disappointment

I've been a satisfied TT user for 8 years, but not this year. Two big problems soured my experience. The first was that TT did not read all the fields on a tax file that was downloaded from my brokerage account. Consequently, I had to hand enter the data for a missing field on 149 transactions. TT would only let me enter the data one transaction at a time, and then TT "calculated" for 1-2 minutes before the next transaction loaded. Multiple times TT crashed during the process. The second problem was that TT failed to transmit my returns several times, shutting down before they were sent. They did transmit the 4th time I tried. The whole experience was very frustrating and causes me to question whether I'll use TT next year.
What's great about it: Successfully filed federal and state returns
What's not so great: Very slow process with no help

Good for what it aims to do, but . . .

Good for the household return of a family with jobs and some rental income. Too bad we can't also prepare a return for a small LLC or partnership with a relatively cheap TurboTax for Mac.
What's great about it: Works well almost all the way through
What's not so great: I need a TurboTax for Mac that allows preparation of returns for a small LLC. Support the Mac crowd!

It was the "state" not Turbo Tax that needs to explain the form better.
What's great about it: Federal was great
What's not so great: State was confusing

Individual Tax for 2014

I had one entry that was clearly marked as Box E for long term stock sales. It had a negative number. I was told I could not have a negative number and that box E was wrong. I ended up deleting the entry since the brokers form said it was NOT reported to the IRS. I could not find out why I had a problem using E or having a negative number. I also checked on-line with no luck. Outside of this one area, I had no issues. This was the only explanation I could not understand
What's great about it: easy to use. Tax brought forward from previous year.
What's not so great: some explanations need to be complete
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Easy to use and complete tax info through Q & A. Was VERY disappointed to learn the Premier Version - which I had to upgrade to -- does not include a comparison tool for married filing jointly vs separately (or at least one that I could readily find). I would expect the software to tell me - truly which is more advantageous in my situation. It appears to default to Married filing Jointly when, in fact, after I prepared several separate returns, Married filing Separately resulted in significantly less tax.
What's great about it: easily walks thru all required forms and info
What's not so great: no good comparison tool for married filing jointly vs separately
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Instruction for form 8615 when filling out my son's return were terrible. When you ask for the value for line 6 at least include the instructions that are on the form. The only way that I figured out what I was supposed to enter was to go to the form itself.
What's great about it: Easy way to do it yourself.
What's not so great: Incomplete instructions for some questions.
Pros: I bought or sold investments
