Had this same situation last year and had to contact Intuit, Would rather use a different product than to continue to get unexpected charges each year
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: State wasn't free as stated on package.

A pricing trap - unexpected charges along the way

I bought TurboTax because I have been using it for years and found the import feature helpful, although the program was comparatively expensive. This year the program was unable to import data from my last year's return and, to add insult to injury, I was TWICE asked to pay additional amounts to enable certain feature that I thought I had bought with the program. I will be switching away from TurboTax next year. Whoever came up with this revised program destroyed a good franchise - I can't believe I am alone in this.

Paid for state

I will not be using the e-file system next year. This will be due the fact I had to file a second time due to and error with the system and then on the second time had to pay with my credit card after I already authorized it to be paid for in my deduction.
What's great about it: None
What's not so great: I believe I paid twice to file my IL state. Once through my refund and a second time through a credit card

Easy, but disappointing

Overall, TurboTax is a great product, but this year I had to take 2 stars away because of the change in the features which required me to upgrade my software mid-form. In the past I have always been able to use the Deluxe and report my Capital Gains/Losses, but this year I was forced to upgrade in the middle of the return. I could have bought the package at the beginning cheaper had I known.
What's great about it: Fastest I have ever filed!
What's not so great: Change in software required upgrade to report carryover capital gains loss.

Although I have used TurboTax for many years, this will be the last. By the time the software is purchased, state filing fees & fees for deduction of fees from refund are paid, it simply isn't worth it. Additionally, there were several spots that caused difficulties. Last year I completed the form with no problems. This year, with exactly the same income/deductions, there were several points of frustration & delay. It doesn't seem as user friendly as in previous years.
What's great about it: step by step questions
What's not so great: expensive
