Help topics are also not that good
What's great about it: Details

Better than ever - 14 years and counting!

I've used the product for over 14 years and every year I'm more pleased. The organization, tips, explanations and feedback allow me to maximize my deductions with confidence. Importing from ItsDeductible allows me to input my charitable contributions all year long making my tax preparation less painful. I like how I can now use my refund to pay towards $$ I owe to my state taxes. How convenient!
I'm a very satisfied customer.
What's great about it: Easy to use, great tips, use of return to pay filing
What's not so great: None
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Overall, a very good program. Using the online version does not allow for as many options. I have one challenging entry on Schedule E and was not allowed to enter my own values.
What's great about it: Easy to use, good questions and directions.
What's not so great: Won't let me fill in form on my own, plugs in numbers without letting me make corrections - Schedule E

Not Turbo Tax's problem, but I have to vent: Biggest problem I had was with the Tax Code on Contributions! Multiple contributions to same charity (like a weekly or monthly pledge with additional cash contributions or donating items to Goodwill, etc. Spring & Fall) used to allow 'various' for 'date' - now I have to lie and put just one date down!
Have used Turbo Tax to complete tax returns for myself, friends, and family - always feel confident that every nuance & area covered.
What's great about it: baby steps & great explanations
What's not so great: difficulty getting full screen at all times; can't jump back & forth to compare entries

The specific Federal Form. There were incomplete instructions and we could not go back to the form again. So I do not have the form number. This was to avoid the penalty for under estimating. We tried several times going back through the Income queries and review. No Luck.
Second question. Will Turbo Tax have anything on Foreign Nationals (Pub. 54 & Forms 2555, 8938, 4852 & FinCEN Form 114)? It is a pain. Addresses and cross calculations to all the summary 1040's. And I haven't even had to address non-resident alien spouses, yet.
What's great about it: We have used Turbo Tax for more than 10 years - Like it a lot
What's not so great: TT Review sent us to specific Fed form because most of our income was in the 4th Qtr (Mutual Fund 1099s)

Asks the same questions that a CPA will ask you, but in the comfort of your own home at your pace. You can leave the question and save your work and come back later to complete it. That would be hard with a CPA. The forms are also available if you dare switch from the guided-mode to look up and fill out the forms yourself. I like the Quick-Zoom which allows you to see where information flows from one form to another. This allows you to see "where did that number come from?" the Wizard however is sometimes a pain, when you want to review your work, you need to go through lots of questions, and it does not tell you what your spouse answered last time this menu appeared. It would be nice to have the wizard remember that you have already been here, and suggest the prior answer, or allow you to review your spouses work without possibly changing it.
What's great about it: Very Good Q&A to get to root of your tax situation
What's not so great: Lots of questions to answer and look up. Sometimes fields are highlighted yellow and you cannot change them

Finished On Time This Year!

I used Turbo Tax again this year. Instead of filing for an extension I was able to file on time for the first time in decades. it is a bit tedious to go through all the steps, but in doing so I found some things I would not have thought of that helped a lot. Thanks Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: Fairly simple, organized
What's not so great: Lots of irrelevant stuff, but I understand why
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Bought the Deluxe at BJs states on the box that can use it to report rental property....not the case we had to upgrade to Premier....then we had to purchase additional state because we moved part way through the year.
Money Money, Money! My husband has used Turbo Tax for years but we will not be using it ever again.
What's great about it: Not much!
What's not so great: constantly asking for more money!
Pros: I moved
