Not sure how to find the worksheet for capital gains carry over. Figures on tax form confuse me. No sure how Schedule D line 6 was calculated.
What's great about it: Easy
What's not so great: Difficult to determine how capital gains carryover figured
Pros: I bought or sold investments

"Improvements?"
on April 14, 2015

Overall, the "improvements" seem to be more for Intuit's profit line than the end user. I have been using Turbo Tax since day one and would always recommend it to my friends and family, but the last two (2) years leave me wondering.
It is very difficult to separate the IRA investments from the normal investments, but I'm not sure if that's my broker, Turbo Tax or a combination. Trying to figure out what the program is doing with the information is definately a Turbo Tax issue.
The fees just seem to pop-up everytime you need to do something important - investments? = $$, auditing? = $$; Filing? + $$. Reminds me of the CCR song "...How much to grive all they say is more, more, more"!
What's great about it: Draws information from a variety of resources; Help screens normally provides good explaination of topic
What's not so great: Difficult to understand why inputs are treated the way they are (investments); Fees are hidden and just pop-up
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

I have used TurboTax for many years now. This year I didn't get to some tax situations that I knew needed to be completed so had to search manually to complete. Just not completely confident got everything completed, correctly. Otherwise, very easy to use and less time consuming than in the past.
What's great about it: Streamlined format
What's not so great: MIssing steps?

full of errors
on April 14, 2015

As I was about to file electronically an error flashed on the screen with no way to correct it. I went back to my worksheet and could find no error. I am very disappointed with my Turbo Tax experience this year. I have been using your services for several years and never before have had this much trouble.
What's not so great: no way to correct errors

My wife passed away in 2014 and I needed to adjust (subtract) amounts of interest and dividends that were paid to her accounts after her death because those amounts will be claimed on the estate account (form 1041). Instead of being able to put an explanatory note directly on Schedule B, I had to make do with "other adjustments". I was able to put the explicit reason in a noted attached to the adjustment amounts, but am not sure these will be visible to the IRS.
What's great about it: Ease of data entry; ability to go back and edit where necessary
What's not so great: Couldn't cause reasons for adjusting dividend and interest income to appear on Schedule B

Still Good Product, but is more splintered than B4

Seems like it was more difficult than last year - it used to be 2 levels of software, now it is three.
Also CCA forms for Ohio did not calculate anything - felt a little cheap...
What's great about it: Walk through step by step
What's not so great: Seems like had to initiate forms that were automatic last year
Pros: I bought or sold investments
