Bring back SchD to Deluxe

Only realized Turbo Tax no longer had ability to file schedule D using Deluxe after purchasing, installing and beginning return. Had to purchase Premier and experienced problems with the install. Was ready to switch to another product after using Turbo Tax for 15 years. What changed my mind was the great customer service provided by Micaela. She worked with me to resolve my install issues. Restore ability to file schedule D using Deluxe for 2015!

Turbo Tax is an Excellent Tax Filing Program

I started with MacInTax years ago and then transitioned to TurboTax Deluxe. The surprise this year was that Deluxe no longer covered all my tax situations with respect to investments. The interview, forms, topic lists, help, etc. features were all appropriately updated once I upgraded to Premium. I just availed myself of the $25 refund feature from Intuit.
Yes, the Deluxe box said it was downgraded, but after years of buying it, I just looked for the box of Deluxe Federal Taxes Only (I live in Texas which does not have a state income tax.). I have to pay estimated taxes so I always buy in early January to true up my projections before the last estimated tax payment is due. I don't have time to waste so buying a different program and learning it was not an option. Turbo Tax Premium enabled me to refine my estimate, pay the IRS, and then true up as actuals came in. I avoided any and all IRS penalties, which is the goal by buying Turbo Tax early in January.
I have just gone to the Intuit website to get my $25 refund.
Next year, I will read up on the Turbo Tax offerings in Nov-Dec, and if Intuit decides to not include investments in Deluxe, I will look for a different program.
For 2013, I would have given Deluxe 5 stars. For 2014, I would give Premium 5 stars. I am giving this review on Deluxe. For 2014, I am giving Deluxe 3 stars to recognize the basic soundness of its feature set even though it deserves 1 star for the under-stated, under-promoted deletion of investment features.

What's not so great: Had to upgrade to Premium to handle investments that Deluxe no longer handled

What's not so great: much harder to navigate/skip around than previous version, seems to allow less flexibility with each sucessive version

What's great about it: Step by Step process was clear, smooth and efficient. I liked e-filing and make Federal and NY State pyments in one step
What's not so great: Turbo Tax Delux did not include Scedule D- was forced to up grade.

Jumpstart on Taxes

Turbo Tax is overpriced. However it does streamline the tax return preparation process. The program allows the preparer to quickly and easily drop in the info provided on all tax forms and focus on the more challenging issues.
What's great about it: Provides structure and guideline to completion
What's not so great: Cost; effectively handles only one state at a time

Better and better every year

I really liked the feature that turbotax goes out and retrieves all stock documents directly from my stock traders. Having to input all of my stock trade activities in the past year had always been a big pain. It usually took me days to complete that the tax return due to those stock schedules. With turbotax, i managed to complete the whole thing within a few mins. Fantastic!!
What's great about it: saved a huge amount of time with turbotax's integration with my stock accounts
