All good except for sales tax
on April 14, 2015

I've used Turbo Tax for many years. It always take a while because I always have to export my financial data to spreadsheets and then move data around to come up with the figures that are requested.
I take the sales tax deduction because I don't pay much state income tax. It is difficult to know how to answer the rate question because some of my shopping is done in Kansas, and within, Missouri, there are multiple local taxes and special taxing districts with add on fees.
What's great about it: Easy to use. Thoroughly covers everything-almost
What's not so great: Sales tax percent difficult to answer

Stock Options Section Could be Improved
on April 14, 2015

Very frustrating dealing with this year's new changes to 1099-B / Schedule D / Form 8949. Data entry required to make sure you don't double pay in taxes does NOT match what IRS tells you to do.
What's great about it: Easier than doing by hand
What's not so great: Stock options section data entry doesn't match IRS instructions

With a death in the family, my daughter & I both in vocational schools, retirement from teaching & new sources of income....Turbo Tax guided me through all the changes & maximized my return. Thanks Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: So easy to use....I never feel overwhelmed or confused.
What's not so great: nothing
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Complex Made Easy
on April 14, 2015

So appreciated the detailed explanations and background documents. My taxes this year were rather complex due to an inheritance and filing in two states. Turbo Tax gave clear, concise and well structured guidance.
Form K1 can't be removed if accidentally filled out, or even clicked on wrongly. It forces you to file with the form on file. Several people mentioned this issue, but the glitch hasn't been addressed so far.
What's great about it: Involved and complex tax issues explained and documented
What's not so great: A few glitches in use of forms
Pros: I bought or sold investments

2014 Turbo Tax ehh
on April 14, 2015

Again I TT this year for likely my 10th time. Bought another state and data would NOT transfer automatically. I repaired program to hit a fatal error, I removed the program and re-installed and the same non transfer of federal worksheet persisted. Then after entering all the data manually on my 2nd state worksheet, paying for efiling the data again said it needed to pull from the Federal worksheet, but couldn't. Doesn't someone quality check this software???? This year I'm getting a refund!
What's great about it: Somewhat familiar architecture
What's not so great: Transfer function blows, pathetic online help

recommend that some non-techie, real world people, including those over 70, be consulted on making the program more user friendly. I've been a TT user for more than 20 years, yet still find the program design a bit cumbersome in some areas.
What's great about it: e-filing much improved
What's not so great: slow loading

With the large number of PONZI Schemes affecting average Americans, you should consider adding Net Operating Losses (NOL) and Form 1045's along with the IRS Pub 536 Worksheet for Carry Forward NOLs
What's great about it: simple but complete IRS Form coverage
What's not so great: Does not do Form 1045
Pros: I moved, I bought or sold investments
