It was fine until I tried to efile

While trying to update, the system would not update and then freeze the system so that I had to go to the system manager and shut down the function. I could not efile without updates and it would not update. I manually update federal and it finally allowed me to file but state was not updated. Using Windows 8.
What's great about it: Good coverage of all topics and easy to navigate

Support The Fair Tax to end income tax nightmare.

Turbo Tax makes a task that is cumbersome relatively easy, but it is easier if you have all your data accessible. I use Quicken to keep track of my expenses and can feed it directly into Turbo Tax. Great tool.
What's great about it: Downloading financial information is very easy.
What's not so great: Can't think of any problems. Been using Turbo Tax for years and would never switch to something else.

State tax electronic filing was not free

Had to provide credit card for charge since only a few days left in filing season to efile state of Illinois return
What's great about it: Good at multiple federal returns.
What's not so great: Software does not give one free state efile as promised

Not Up to Long-held Expectations

I have used the TurboTax product for nearly 20 years. By far, this year's version had the most error messages, fix updates required, and situations where I actually had to stop working on the return. Based on prior satisfaction, I will use the product again for 2015, but expect a better product.
What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Very disappointed...see review below.

Overall a very good product but...

This is a very good product for people who want to do their own taxes. Generally it takes not much longer to do your own than to fill out the information survey that accountants want you to do. I like the constantly updating refund/tax amount since it gives you a sense of how much different deductions impact your tax situation.
If you have K-1 forms that report both real estate and ordinary income, then it is unnecessarily complicated and prone to mistakes in handling. It has been this way for years, and really should be improved.
What's great about it: Comprehensive, easy to follow, constant update of refund/tax amount
What's not so great: Handling of K-1s is poor
