Not always right

It makes it easier to do my taxes but, I do not entirely trust the product. Also that hacking incident earlier this year is/was a concern.
What's great about it: Most of the time it is easy to do.
What's not so great: This year I had to proof several mistakes made.

Tired of copying from secure pw valut

Step-by-step allowed me to quickly go through my return. Because I used TT last year, it remembered key items such as my investments, IRAs, charities & etc. I have many many of each and this automatic list helps as a reminder to me to go find the donations I made this year.
My biggest frustration is with copying passwords from my on-line password vault/safe. I use Keypass to store my passwords to my financial sites. Some of the passwords are 30 or more characters. TT does NOT allow me to cut-copy-paste from the password vault to TT. I have made repeated errors sizing the two windows to that I can type accurately from Keypass into TT. If I mis-type, I am sent back three screens in TT - a terrible penalty on top of a bid situation. PLEASE allow c/c/p or even auto-type into PW fields.
What's great about it: Takes me through the steps as-if I was doing it myself.
What's not so great: Will not cut/copy paste userID/passwords of financial brokers, banks &etc. from pw safe/vault.

mocking as couple working on two different states
on April 14, 2015

I have income from NY, and resident of NY . My husband has income from NY and resident of NJ. I have to mock Federal return to create individual Federal return, as Software is not smart enough to realize that I want to fill NJ for my husband, but don't count my income in NJ, as I am not resident of NJ. I am resident of NY, and made money in NY.
Then I delete my items from Fedral return to create mocking for my husband, and started NY state return, and it got stuck in residency section when asking about my status.
What's great about it: not much help
What's not so great: have to creat a mock federal return individually;

Minor but disturbing problem
on April 14, 2015
Posted by: Delgon
Unable to file electronically due to an insignificant problem with Form 1116 AMT that could not be rectified. The schedule was not incorrect, agreed with the respective 1116 and had the correct amount. Also was disturbed by the fact that a 1099-R was not done and there was no error message to that effect nor was the item marked in the list of schedules as not done. It was not until the nth hour of completion that on review of the "final" return that it became obvious a number was missing. I have used Turbo Tax since 1990 or earlier and this is the first time any problems have arisen. Inablility to file a somewhat complex 30+ page return electronically was a major inconvenience.
What's great about it: 99% reliable
What's not so great: First time problem with Turbo Tax
