This works great as usual. It is nice and friendly and I was able to work on my taxes over a few weekends getting documents together (finding wife's W-2). It saves all my prior information and makes it a breeze each year to file. Though I still do not like paying or having taxes withheld. Vote for freedom when you can. :-)
What's great about it: Works like a charm and finds savings
What's not so great: Higher prices

Turbo Tax Rocks!
on April 14, 2015

I am filing a Schedule E for the first time this year and was going to hire an accountant after using Turbo Tax for several years. After I got everything together, I realized it would actually be more efficient to do the return myself. Turbo Tax gave me the support I needed and was easy to follow. I was able to duplicate all calculations (except for AMT) with ease. I saved a few dollars and learned more about the tax laws for vacation rentals. Thanks to all at TurboTax
What's great about it: Easy to use, great help feature
What's not so great: took a long time to load, but no other issues
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Bad presentation of IRA information
on April 14, 2015
Posted by: IRAInfoBad
As I was submitting information into TurboTax, I came to a screen whereby TurboTax said I was eligible for a traditional IRA and directed me to a page with a bunch of companies with which I could open an IRA. I suspended my TurboTax entry while I went and did that. When I returned to TurboTax to continue my return with information on how much I contributed, TurboTax told me I was not eligible for a traditional IRA because my adjusted gross income was too high. It was very stressful to then figure out what to do with that traditional IRA to avoid paying an IRS penalty on excess traditional IRA contributions (I recharacterized it to a Roth IRA). When I went back into TurboTax to see if I had missed something in TurboTax's presentation of IRA information, I saw a small link in some fine print that took me to an IRS worksheet that indicated the income limits for a traditional IRA. Since TurboTax figures out everything else for the user, TurboTax should NOT tell someone they are eligible for a traditional IRA if their AGI is too high! It should use MY information to tell me whether or not I am eligible for a traditional IRA, Roth IRA, or neither.

When I do my return at home I can take my time and make certain I gather all the pertinent information that applies to create a complete filing. This was not the case when I use to go to my tax accountant, and some items would get missed. Turbo asks me more tax questions than my accountant ever did, so with TurboTax I feel that all the bases were covered and complete to get me the best return. That is a good feeling, plus I actually pay less to file a more complete return. I will be using TurboTax next year, too.
What's great about it: Quick and Easy - for a tax return
What's not so great: None
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Came Through -- in the end

I have been using TTax since 1995 and will continue to use and recommend going forward. I only used locally installed software vs online versions because of flexibility and choice of when to work offline
As expected, It is compatible with my banking software (Q15). Help and in depth research are available while in a tax form or in interview mode. Nice for those of us that need more detailed answers.
I start taxes in January, and since i usually owe, finalize in April. Though the time, i really do enjoy the auto update, or at least option of program update when i start/continue my return.
Unfortunately, I was one of the Deluxe to Premiere catches. Intuit did the right thing with a no charge upgrade to Premiere. Good job with customer loyalty and satisfaction.
My digs, interruptions or whatever the label of the options for add on features and external products. I understand the revenue chance, but would be nice to have an "Opt Out" after first or second "Continue"!
Over all, good job Intuit.
What's great about it: Ease of use, and auto updates program and forms.
What's not so great: Upgrade, other internal and other external product sales hype .
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Efficient and effective way to do taxes. Math is impeccable and instructions are easy to follow. Have been using for years.
What's great about it: P:remier haldles most of my requirements and does it well.
What's not so great: Foreign Tax credit is confusing and I don't seem to get all the credit that I used to.

we had to take RMDs, which you would have known because we have been using you for years. When you told us what ESs to take you did not ask if we would be taking taxes out when we got the checks. Because we did not, we ended up owing $2001. This is not the kind of service that you promised.
What's great about it: easy to do
What's not so great: gave low ESs for last year and we owe $2001!
