Lack of software quality control amazing!

The interview sometimes sends you to windows that are irrelevant ("tell us more about your farm income"... when you have no farm income.
Summaries of capital loss carryovers are mislabeled with the tax years from last year's version.
Intuit eliminates capabilities of the version you have been using for 10 years to force you to upgrade to get the same thing you previously had.
If their quality control on the interface is this bad, how accurate can the calculations be?
What's great about it: Step by step system is relatively easy
What's not so great: Buggy, prior tax year labels in new version, deceptive tactics to force upgrades

Been using Turbo Tax for a few years and its always so simple to use and nice to be able to transfer previous year's info.
What's great about it: So easy to use!
What's not so great: nothing

I had no problem filing a joint return but I took the IRS advice to calculate married filing separately for comparison. Turbotax provides instruction for how to do this in a community property state but we live in Alaska and I could find almost no help figguring out who gets to claim our rental income, our stock sales income, or our expenses and charitable donations. I think I navigated the available information to conclude that my current spouse can not claim her stepchildren because they are my biologic children and I can claim them but almost all other decisions about which of us can claim what is without guidance. I gave up in frustration and filed jointly instead.
What's great about it: married filing jointly made simple
What's not so great: married filing seperately in turbotax is chaos

Best option available for me. Requires a great deal of trust because the input format doesn't allow for explaining why certain things are done.
What's great about it: Allows importing of1099 data.
What's not so great: Cannot easily (or at least not intutive) pull up past year's return and show comparitive amounts entries when editing

What's great about it: I like that turbo tax explained things
What's not so great: Taxes in general
Pros: I had a baby, I moved, I bought or sold investments
