Glad to have Turbo Tax to minimize the amount owed

I have used TurboTax for the past few years and when I went to have my taxes done by someone else, they used Turbo Tax too!
What's great about it: I liked the step-by-step preparation process
What's not so great: sometimes it took quite a while for TurboTax to load

Unsure comfort level

I've been using TT for years, it makes tax time easy and fast. However this year, we sold some very old stock and I had to use the extra features of TT. I know taxes can be complicated, but I was hoping TT would really guide us a lot better with our unusual stock sale. So I was a little disappointed in that regard. Some of the information within TT seemed to be different than the information contained on the TT web help site.
The other thing I found was that some forms, once filled in manually, can't be deleted or removed. The "easystep" screens do not always match up with the forms. So to remove these extra forms, I had to start my return from scratch! Then to safely compare different ways of filling in some forms, I had to make a base-line copy of my return and then experiment with different version of the file. I'm still not sure if all calculations TT made are complete.
What's great about it: basic taxes made easy
What's not so great: does not clean up properly
Pros: I bought or sold investments

California Screaming

I had nonresident withholding on CA Form 592-B. You must enter the withholding on that form on TurboTax to file electronically. It does not carry the withhold state income tax amounts over to the federal return. However, if you enter them separately on the federal return as state taxes paid, it then double counts the amount on the California return. That's a fix TurboTax needs to make.
What's great about it: I can complete a fairly complex return with 2 K-1s and a nonresident filing
What's not so great: Program has a glitch with CA form 592-B withholding

Making money is great but too many versions of the same program are extremely confusing and irritating
What's great about it: It is still the same Turbo Tax that is very easy to use
What's not so great: There were TOO MANY versions to keep it simple

Paying for a software program is just adding insult to injury in our over bearing tax system. Solution: I made this much income; How much do I owe in a flat tax rate sytem?

Fast and easy to navigate

Our return had additional forms needed this year due to the sale of some company stocks. The program took me to the site to upgrade, and then resumed my return. It was seamless, and made the experience less stressful.
What's great about it: walked me through new forms I had never used before
What's not so great: had to upgrade to premier edition to have all the forms I needed
Pros: I bought or sold investments

The "return to the interview" button is gone. it was much easier on past TT versions to get back to specific interview sections when reviewing or amending.
What's not so great: return to interview
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Have been a long-long-long time Turbo Tax customer. Like millions (I suspect) of others, was very surprised to learn that the deluxe version of Turbo Tax that I purchased (as I had for many years) was inadequate for completing my 2014 returns. Extremely happy to see Turbo Tax admit that a mistake was made and Turbo Tax provided excellent customer service by correcting the error.
Doing taxes isn't fun. However Turbo Tax has made the process less painful.
What's great about it: step by step process of completing the return
What's not so great: difficult navigating 'reverse' to re-review a section that has been completed
