I expected more help with death of spouse
on April 13, 2015

Overall, using Turbo Tax was helpful. However, in the initial interview, it asked if there was a death in the family. When I replied yes, it offered condolences and said it would address that later, but never did. I had expected there would be some followup on filing estate return, asking different questions, etc., but I did not get anything.
What's great about it: Helped compare info from last year, led through common forms
What's not so great: Expected there would be more guidance on dealing with death of spouse.

Needs improvement for the veteran TurboTax user

I have used TurboTax for about 10 years. For parts of the return where I am not sure what I might to enter, the "series of questions" format is good. However, most, almost all, of the segments are very familiar and I know what I need to enter. However, I need to step through 5-10 standard "this is not common" questions just to get to the one I need. And, if I decide to change a value later, I can't get to the ONE question without stepping through those 5-10 other ones AGAIN. So, I will try to flip over to the FORMS mode. However, it is not always smart about what form to put you on. In fact, it will often place you on the FIRST form of the entire return when you flip to the FORMS mode. You have to guess what form or worksheet you were about to answer questions for (Form 8596? Schedule E? How would I know!) Why can't it just flip over to the current form being worked on? Or, at least, remember what form you were on last time you flipped back to EasyStep?
Also, when I want to experiment with, for instance, how much an IRA contribution would affect my bottom line? The quickest way is to do it from the Forms view. However, when I change that one number, I can't see the change to my Taxes Due. I have to flip back to EasyStep just to see that. Then back to Forms to change the value again. This is all just to avoid all the questions to get that one value.
What's great about it: Asks lots of questions
What's not so great: Can't skip past all the questions
Pros: I bought or sold investments

I love TurboTax. This is the fifth or sixth year I have used this tax program and I hope it never goes away. I really, really like having it transfer the previous years information for me. Saves time and headaches. Thanks!
What's great about it: Simple questions - easy to find answers.
What's not so great: Some questions that don't apply - currently.

state side fallout/rentre's bemuse

While product selection for options and forms the program offered in the taxing process of filing; items I needed to enter were by-passed.
State specifics for W Va. left out important tax options that I was not aware of until I went to West Va's Tax Site.
The expenses of renting and maintaining property were not in the package purchased. Even after "up grading" for $$$, the same was not in the programed questions/offerings. I will need to submit an amendment for US Fed Taxes in the near future to capture lost assets.
I had difficulties locating forms in the process and completed forms while I was using this program.
What's great about it: step through process
What's not so great: difficult to get to actual form to enter specifics not offered in step process
