Thanks Turbo Tax

Turbo Tax is my go to tax preparation method. I enjoy seeing the progression of my return as I enter information. It does take some of my prized personal time, but Turbo Tax walks me through every step. It is also very easy to revisit a section once one is started. Thank you for providing this service for those of us who want to prepare our own taxes. You make it possible!
What's great about it: It's Deductible really simplified my charitable contributuions
What's not so great: I was a little confused with entering the sale of my primary home
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

mostly fantastic

There were issues with my Restricted Stock, and I tried to file electronically, which failed, but once I deleted all the restricted stock transactions imported from my eTrade account, and manually re-entered them (I then saw the vesting, not just sales) I was able to enter the sale amount of $0 to enter the vesting amounts and things worked. Problem was that then I couldn't eFile... even though it said it failed, the federal apparently actually transmitted, forcing me to do an amendment, and the state hasn't filed electronically... even though I paid for it, planning for it. Now I guess I'll send in my originals and my ammendments together. Otherwise a great experience, but that was a pretty big bummer.
What's great about it: mostly easy, very thorough
What's not so great: problems with restricted stock reporting, then issues with filing

As usual - Steady and Solid.

Turbo Tax continues to be a steady product that does what it is supposed to with no muss, and no fuss. It imports information from prior years (if you use Turbo Tax in the past) and this eases the amount of time needed to do your taxes. It even carries over losses from the previous year that you may have forgotten about. Over the years, we have had many situations that require a thorough tax program (student status changes, student loans, multiple rental properties, homeowner expenses, property loss, children, changes in marital status, IRA early withdraws due to education, multiple jobs in the same year, charity donations, and job related unreimbursed expenses) and Turbo Tax handles them all with ease. I have used other products in the past to do my taxes but for the past five+ years I reach for Turbo Tax and I am always satisfied. Thanks Turbo Tax!
What's great about it: Thorough, yet concise. Imported my information from last year with no problems. Easy to use (in general). Good value.
What's not so great: Sometimes questions are confusing. Some information is transfered but not until later and then you need to edit it.

Overall good

No provision was made to cover the sale of real estate in the third quarter of the year. This caused an erroneous figure for Penalty/Interest charges since the first two quarters had no estimated tax payments. I had no idea when the property would sell. As a result, I have to file an amended return to reclaim the erroneous Penalty/Interest. Also, I was not told before hand that efiling to D.C. would be an extra charge.
What's great about it: Easy to follow
What's not so great: No provision for Federal 2210 problems. No statement until end of extra charge for D.C. efiling.

Excellent, but getting too expensive

As usual, TurboTax imported information saved from last years filing. This really cuts down on the time factor. Turbo Tax has a very easy to follow step-by-step that saves time and allows input of items that might otherwise be missed.
Biggest disappointment, Deluxe no longer allows itemization!!! This year, Turbo Tax allowed a "free" upgrade. I suspect because so many people were angry about this. I will no longer allow my subscription to be renewed. Guess I'll shop around next year even if it means more hassle entering all personal information again.
