My 2014 Turbotax Experience

I am somewhat computer literate and find it reasonably easy to use, intuitive, and easy to correct mis-inputs. The instructions are clear for the most part. Care should be taken in the future not to assume a great deal of computer literacy of the user, or we older users may have difficulty.
What's great about it: Easy to go back and change incorrect entries. Importing data from 2013 return and investment provider.
What's not so great: Somewhat difficult to make requested entries during review cycle.

k1 support weak no 990 t capablilty or support

990t not part of return but affects value of owed taxes penalty, fines, late penalties/mo,.owed interest, underpayment fines. not able to generate 990t for most likely needs (k1 stocks). irs how to manual is bad (causes confusion not really helpful) and no support from irs. support required as etrade follows irs rules on individuals must complete form. pros charge 350-500 each 990t form cpas charge more and by the hour. told business software does not do it either. you need special case instructions linking k1 data for ira roths to 990t.
What's great about it: able to import better and more types
What's not so great: not able to generate 990t for most likely needs k1 stocks. irs how to manual is bad and no support from irs

Very upset about having to go and return the normal version I have been using and having to pay extra for stocks. Will be looking for an alternative software for next year.

Don't change Delux

TurboTax is a fairly priced tool for preparing my tax return. I have used it for many years and been quite satisfied. However, TurboTax is not the only option for preparing my taxes. It needs to continue to meet or exceed customer expectations, not compromise capabilities, and be competitively priced.
What's great about it: easy to use, seems to cover all tax issues
What's not so great: Very difficult to maneuver back to previous topics
