Always meets expectations!

No a bad product - it would be nice if some of the steps could be shortened. But we are happy and satisfied completely.
What's great about it: Relatively simple; good results
What's not so great: Gets longer and more complex every year; comparitively expensive
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

TURBOTAX is the only way!

I have used TurboTax for years now, and I will continue to use it in the future. It is very well organized, knows all the tax twists and turns. Couldn't do my taxes without it.
What's great about it: Comprehensive, easy to follow
What's not so great: Should tell you beforehand extra costs, e.g. e-file state taxes

Too much secrecy

Didn't like the lack of notification about changes to the product. I was also told I could not get my upgrade refund if I filed an extension rather than file by deadline. There are some holes in the estimated taxes for 2015 section: 1) there should be a calculation for estimated AMT rather than jut a box to input your own estimate and 2) there should be a calculation to determine the minimum estimated tax payment needed each quarter to avoid a penalty for underpayment.
What's great about it: step by step completion
What's not so great: changes made to product without notice

Love it Hate it

I use disc version of the program. I have prepared many tax returns over the years so I prefer to use "forms" rather than "step by step" but have used that too and it is generally good. This year, I bought the Deluxe version as I have for the last several years only to find out that because I have a Schedule D in my return, I now have to upgrade to Premier! Fortunately, this year the upgrade was free but I will definitely be looking at other products next year as the cost of the Premier version is DOUBLE what I paid for Deluxe in 2014.
What's great about it: Good calculations, can use forms and step by step, good help
What's not so great: Confusing levels

Poor Software

I bought Premier and R.I. and Ma. and it tried to charge me for reinstalling Ma state again. Tool is not user friendly

What's not so great: Had to reload software and it tried to get me to Pay for 1 of the 2 states I already Purchased

Disappointed in Changes to Available Features

As usual, Turbo Tax was an effective method for filing my taxes. Usually I give it a 5-star rating. However there was one aspect that was very disappointing this year. For the 2014 Tax Year, TurboTax adjusted features available with different versions. Over the past several years I have been able to use TurboTax Basic to calculate cost basis on shares of common stock. This should be an easy application as all the required info is already provided by my broker. However, I had to upgrade 2-levels to TurboTax Premier to use the feature this year. I had no other option!!! This was a considerable expense compared to previous year. For the first time in nearly a decade, I'll be considering alternative tax filing methods for 2015 tax year.
What's great about it: Took 3-4 hours to file my taxes
What's not so great: Feature Change Required Purchase of TurboTax Premier

My wife and I have a simple life and simple income. w-2's and some interest income. I bet I could complete my turbo taxes in less than an hour. I've learned the system well and know how to navigate the software to complete my taxes easily. Thanks.
