Detailed taxes need not apply

I have been using Turbo Tax for years and have generally enjoyed a pleasant satisfactory experience. However, this year while not really more complex than previous years (I do have several K1's and a child in college now) left me "guessing" at answers to very vague questions. Having the ability to exam how differing options to answering questions will impact my tax situation would be awesome. Additionally I was left scratching my head after answering questions about college expenses that seemingly left me paying capital gains on College Savings Account funds that are supposed to be tax exempt if used to pay for higher education. However, given the timeline for filing I had no real choice but to file what Turbo Tax calculated and then turn my taxes over to a professional for an evaluation of what had transpired. I think I will just hire a professional next year.
What's great about it: nice user interface and the interview process is pleasant
What's not so great: does not provide enough details to help understand moderately complex taxes

Really flakey this year, had alot of problems that I didn't have last year. Not able to save my work, or exit. When I go to file my return some window pops up that says it wasn't able to connect on the internet, no explanation as to what it is trying to do. When I try to save my return to a pdf file, it just hangs (forever). If I see these types of problems next year it will be my last year using Turbo Tax.

Lots of work, but worth the effort!

Very useful in determining the right values for rental property deductions and depreciation; helpful with the sale of a home (all IRS forms considered); first year in a state with no income tax, so it took some work to get the sales tax section alternative completed. All things considered, I give TurboTax a 9.5 out of ten for 2014.
What's great about it: Very helpful prompts to get thru the multitude of forms & worksheets
What's not so great: No obvious way to get to the actual IRS forms for review (for those of us familiar with the old-fashioned paper process)
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

TurboTax Premier(not online version) was easy to download, set up and run. It runs you through a step by step entry of all information that may be needed. It helps remind me of things I may have forgotten to dig into. The part I really love that saves me time is the automated download of financial institution data, such as individual stock transactions. Without this I would still be typing these in right now. If you own any MLPs in your portflio or anything that involves a K-1, TTax really helps. There are a few glitches that should be fixed but with a little ingenuity can be worked out. If a K-1 seems to be there, but you kn ow it isn't needed, just type something in and then delete the K-1 and it should fix it. Otherwise it has been great.
What's great about it: I like the detailed, step by step working through of entries.
What's not so great: Some glitches especially in K-1 that need fixing but worked them out.

It has been easier than ever to get through my taxes. I itemized my deductions and flew through the process. The program has trained me to become more organized before tax time.
What's great about it: Charitable donations section was a breeze.
What's not so great: Some distractions on saving to Turbo Tax iCloud platform.

What's great about it: liked the speed of checking
What's not so great: when you return to a selection list, it goes back to the top instead of to the item you just finished
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Would like to see a "copy" mode for W2-G forms or an option to auto complete basic info when you have multiple W2-G's from the same entity. Otherwise, Turbo Tax is simple & fast. Most questions can be answered within the program.
What's great about it: Pulls info from prior year return & then walks you through the whole process
What's not so great: Filling out W2-G forms
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments
