Good, Bad and Ugly?
on April 13, 2015

I have always liked Turbo Tax and have used it since before Intuit purchased it (it originally had a different name). The walk-through process makes things a lot easier. Every year I have some small glitch, as in when TT asked me to state "5 or more" but doesn't give me a clue as to 5 what -- dollars, maybe? Miles? Maybe they're thinking of trips to a clinic. Also, I once had a very tiny business and had to create and dissolve the business all in the same year. That was 4 years ago. TT wants me to plow through anyway, entering zeros throughout. TT has a delete procedure for getting rid of the form -- it didn't work as instructed. But, all that is relatively minor; it is a great program and I will use it for 2015 and beyond.
What's great about it: General ease of use, automatic calculations, printout of final documents
What's not so great: Can't communicate with TT any more: FAQs aren't adequate, insistence on forms that are no longer needed

As usual Turbo Tax was easy to use and their step by step process made me confident that I covered all my Tax issues and filed a fair and accurate return.
What's great about it: easy to use through out the years
What's not so great: Did not handle the type of filing ie deluxe, professional, etc. transene well.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

The broker download is worth the price
on April 13, 2015

TT handled the download of over 700 transactions from my broker with no difficulty. It would help my review if the sub-account (e.g. manager name) could have been brought into TT to help me review the details. As it was, all 700+ read "broker name" only and I had to figure which account each belonged to - a big job. The Foreign Tax credit interview needs some clarification - I know this is a very confusing form 1116. I had to remove all the entries and then create the largest one first in order to be able to e-file. Finally, it would be nice if Premier provided one free state e-file in addition to the fed e-file .Overall, fine job TT...
What's great about it: good down-to-earth explanations, also provides encouragement
What's not so great: Foreign tax credit
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax made a disasterous blunder with this years changes. As a "rocket scientist" we learn early that if not broken do not fix. You should learn this same lesson.
What's great about it: Old version great for many years
What's not so great: New version( with changes) will require searching for different product

A bit disappointed this year.

There needs to be some work done to ensure that the information windows open to help with gaining more information and assistance when going thru the process. Also, the print and save step FROZE UP when preparing the forms for printing and saving of the PDF tile.
What's great about it: Helpful and easy to work with.
What's not so great: Failures to open "need more info" windows and FAILURE to print and save file when time to prepare forms for mailing.
