Making Taxes Less Taxing
on April 13, 2015

TurboTax takes the hassle and stress out of filing. Although I've used the program for over 10 years, I still have it walk me through all topics just so I don't miss anything important. This year the program made me aware of an energy tax credit I didn't know I was eligible for.
What's great about it: Thorough coverage of all situations

I have used turbo tax for several years and has been an easy and reliable way to do taxes, that is why I am a continued customer. Had to update software manually which took some time to find out that this was needed.
What's great about it: Easy to follow; accurate computations, software help
What's not so great: software updater did not operate so did research and had to do manual updates.
Pros: I moved

I've used Turbo Tax for a number of years and have appreciated the thoroughness of the product. This year it seemed that the questions seemed easier to follow thus easier to enter the required data. Keep it up......
What's great about it: Instructions seemed easier to follow this year.
What's not so great: Cost of Turbo Tx product creeping up.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Problems for overseas filers
on April 13, 2015
Posted by: OverSeasTaxPayr
- Doesn't accept international phone numbers - Gives errors for international addresses in many cases, yet requires entries in address fields to allow e-filing.
- Did not import prior year info correctly, then wouldn't allow, or recognize corrections that I made to the tax history page. This forced me to manually adjust many enetries (very painful). I could have started entire tax return over trying to fix import problem, but I had already invest days entering this years information.
- Did not allow me to correct spouse's phone number once it had imported it from the prior year. That phone number is no longer valid but I can't edit it.
- Basically, TurboTax needs better tools to allow user to check and correct imported data. Or perhaps it just needs to make these more accessable if they already exist. And users should be able to fix this info late in the process and recompute the calculations (i.e. I don't want to have to redo a return from scratch when I discover an error in the import step late in the preparation).
What's not so great: TurboTax doesn't work well for US Citizens abroad
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved

Super fast this year!

I have used Turbo Tax for several years now. This year was the fastest processing time ever--everything I needed to import was available. I had a little trouble with the 1099-b form, but was able to get help with my questions pretty quickly. I will keep using it for next year. That's for sure!
What's great about it: Imports were set up for all of my stuff
What's not so great: The 1099-b import was tough--hard to find info for withholding
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Did not allow change of data entered in error on lines 13 and greater on k-l entries.
What's great about it: carryforwards
What's not so great: required non significant info on 8949.

Overall a pleasant tax filing experience, if there is such a thing. I feel a confidence that everything was covered and that I'm getting the minimum tax payment. Thanks TurboTax for making it easy!
What's great about it: Loved the concise, easy-to-follow directions and thoroughness of the coverage
What's not so great: Didn't like that when returning to review pages I had to reanswer previously annswered questions
Pros: I bought or sold investments
