What's great about it: Easy to get and inter information
What's not so great: Printing Problems had issues with program. Was not able to free E-file State.

Outstanding Once Again!!
on April 13, 2015

My tax returns continue to get more complex and involved, but I have yet to see the limits of Turbo Tax. No one likes to see added tax on capital gains, medicare, limits and phase outs, etc. but I'm very appreciative that Turbo Tax takes time to understand it and get it right. Transition of personal info from previous years is seamless and e-file is easy. The guided questionnaire makes completing the return painless. Great personal customer service through the 800 number!!!
What's great about it: Fast, accurate, easy to complete, easy to file, trusted, handles complex returns with ease, great customer service
What's not so great: None
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

This customer did not provide a text review.
What's great about it: Instructions are explicit and understandable.
What's not so great: refund total adjusts consistently at first with each entry, but stalls at deductions.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Turbo Tax has become complacent
on April 13, 2015

I am also disappointed in Turbo Tax forcing users to upgrade to get forms that were on lower priced packages previously. Land Sale directions were difficult to get started as to proper selection of questionaire. Business sales versus second home non-rental units. Had to look up info on on-line FAQ forums. When it came time to submit out of state form, Turbo Tax software was unable to accept credit card payment. Had to make numerous calls to robotic system that asked for email address that I was using to access online Turbo Tax. I wasn't accessing Turbo Tax through an email address. Then it asked for an incident number that was never provided. On the fourth try the robot told me they would call back. They did, wonders of wonders and was finally able to pay for State Tax e-filing. Will probably try another tax package next year unless Turbo Tax puts forth the serious efforts in acknowledging these issues. Turbo Tax is just getting too expensive compared to the competition. Have been a loyal user for approximately 10 years.
What's great about it: Easy parts were easy
What's not so great: Property sales entries were not very well directed
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax Deluxe
on April 13, 2015

After being a TurboTax customer for 14 years, I was disappointed with the initial decision to require the upgrade from the Deluxe version to the Premium version in order to include the forms required to enter investment income. Finally TurboTax reversed that decision so that I was able to complete and return my taxes. If they want customers to remain loyal to their product, they need to maintain the same functionality of the Deluxe version.
What's great about it: easy to follow
What's not so great: Initially didn't include the forms to do investment income
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

TurboTax Premier

I have been using TurboTax for more years than I can remember. That should be some testimony.
What's great about it: Did what I wanted it to do.
What's not so great: Sometimes have to search for answer. But it can be found. Difficult to print just a few pages. Not sure I can.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Easier than I Thought

The importing of financial data from investment firms, etc. is a huge time and labor savings. TurboTax walks you through the whole process and gives the taxpayer the ability to file their own return instead of hiring someone. I feel more knowledgeable about my taxes now than when I went to a pro.
Downside is that I had to pay for a upgrade right in the middle of doing my taxes. Guess I didn't have much choice. TurboTax needs to better define what each version can actually handle so the buyer can purchase the right version from the start. Overall, I'm happy with the performance of TurboTax.
It might be nice to have a preview of the information that was imported from a financial/ investment firm so that the user knows he/ she has a complete record. Otherwise you do not know what you have until you print out your return. My return ran over 35 pages due to listing all the sale of assets. I was not certain all the data was there until I printed my return. If I could have had a preview after importing the information for my Form 8949 it would have saved me much worrying.
With two kids in college, TurboTax made the education credits a snap.
I be back for TurboTax again next year and won't be dreading filing like I have in the past.
What's great about it: Ability to import large Form 8949 capital asset sales
What's not so great: Bought Deluxe but had to Upgrade to Premier at a price
Pros: I bought or sold investments
