Good Product

Good Product overall, easy to use and very thorough.
What's great about it: Ease of Use
What's not so great: It seems items that didn't require a premium version of Turbo Tax in previous years, do now.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Works Like Magic

It is a great program and I continually use it year after year. I have been successfully doing my own taxes since the 1900's (LOL) and love the software. Would not choose to use any other.
What's great about it: Easy to understand; walks through every step
What's not so great: Some items I had to retype that didn't carry over from last year
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Expensive & Limited

I used to use TT Deluxe every year until a corporate relo complicated my return . Then I used a very knowledgeable and affordable CPA until she retired in 2014.
As we had some very minor stock & bond investments, I was forced to spend more money for 'Premier'. I then try to file my taxes only to find the Permier is very poorly named...I could not list some common expense deductions because I didn't have the Home & Business version.
I just filed my return with a strong feeling that I did not get every deduction possible. Very disappointed in TurboTax after years of nothing but happiness. I doubt they will get a second chance. On a positive note, I now have a year to find a new CPA.
What's great about it: Little thinking required
What's not so great: Upgrade to more $ versions...more $ to e-file...

Deluxe Did not Handle Stock this Year?
on April 12, 2015

Each Year I have bought Deluxe and It handled my one (1) STOCK.
This Year I bought Deluxe but needed Schedule D so took it back & bought Premier (Very expensive).
Next year I will use H&R-BLOCK software.
What's great about it: Very Bitter This Year --Bait & Switch
What's not so great: Price too expensive for Premier

seemed more frustrating this year

entering charitable deductions seemed less logical. Forced too much back and forth on entering items. The area also need a sorting feature to group similar items.
What's great about it: still good explanations for most items
What's not so great: less flexible forms. Some items more difficult to enter

2014 Taxes
on April 12, 2015

We've used TurboTax for over a decade but this year is the last due to software errors over the years. The one we found this year was based on our 2013 return. TurboTax didn't account for our oldest child turning 17 and losing child tax credit when computing 2014 estimated taxes and creating payment coupons.
This resulted in our underpaying estimated taxes throughout 2014 and getting a bad surprise when calculating our 2014 taxes prior to making our final 2014 estimated tax payment in January 2015.
We'll shop around for other options next year.
What's great about it: Data from prior year inputted automatically
What's not so great: Didn't account for child turning 17 and losing child tax credit when computing 2014 estimated taxes and coupons
Pros: I bought or sold investments

After unsuccessfully following the instructions in the TurboTax Q+A, I had to delete our Forms 2555.
