I had problems this year with TurboTax. There was something that changed that I really do not like. I had problems and had to call the help center. I'm considering not using TurboTax next year; I'll wait and see if things go back to the way it use to be.

Product is leveling out and not improving

Excellent but a few improvements needed

It is awesome and comprehensive, and works so well. So when it is vague or doesn't work it sets a stark contrast. The foreign tax credit section did not work for me when there was more than one country to add. Also, so many people have to use the AMT these days that this section really lacks the same kind of guidance and requires you to know where on what form is stuff entered which is so unworthy of how the rest of TT works.
What's great about it: Comprehensive
What's not so great: AMT needs more guidance, foreign tax credit has bugs

A Bit Under Impressive

Having used T-TAX for over 10 years now I find it a very good tool overall that does not completely change each year. Generally if you figure it out once you can just fill in the blanks year after year. Quick and easy has been the past and hopefully future of this product.
This year there was a problem in the Health Insurance that was painful. If I selected any of the 'more info" blocks it forced my old T-TAX 10 to start and try to update. Could not get around this by clearing histories, relaunching and such. Finally gave up and just guessed at what was meant.
In the print section you need to add a save to local backup as well as the e-mail, slow mail and cloud options. Security is bad enough out there in Cloud-Land so don't want that as a backup.
That's about it. I will still be using T-TAX next year and probably for many years after that.
What's great about it: Ease of accurate transfer of data from last years TTAX. Same general look and feel retained.
What's not so great: The Health Insurance section was a disaster to navigate. Printing and saving files this year was a challenge

My filing was more complex this year and TurboTax gave me the confidence to complete it correctly, and completely on my own- with a back-up plan, just in case! ;)

Relatively painless

Overall it's the best way to file your return if you are novice and don't want to spend money on a tax accountant or preparer.
What's great about it: The step by step guide gives you confidence.
What's not so great: The end is a little confusing when you want to print to mail in your forms.

Turbo Tax is much better this year

I am very happy with Turbo Tax and will continue to use it.
What's great about it: Much easier to navigate to different sections of the program
What's not so great: When printing out the Adobe PDF file for my records it looped around to do it again. I said didn't I just do that?
