Form 1040 w/K-!'s
on April 12, 2015

Took some time to figure out how to fill in field 11a on form k-1. After I figured out that highlighting the amount field and a large plus showed up. Then to hitting the plus provided a form where the information the attorney provided could be entered.
What's great about it: Using Turbo tax the last couple years allows info to be carried to the next year.
What's not so great: Some fields next more explanations on how to fill in the info.

Used TT for many years. Well worth the price and program is thorough. Ability to be walked through or choose custom path is appreciated. I feel confident in my return.
The only issue I had was trying to get back into the current year file when returning to the program. It seemed to always only want to import the past year file like I was starting over. The remedy was to not start the program first, but rather, just double click on the file from windows explorer and let that action launch TT. Could be cockpit trouble . . .
What's great about it: pulls in past personal and tax data, quick and accurate
What's not so great: can't return to this year's return from within the program
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Wish I'd used this last year!!

I wish I would've used TurboTax for filing my taxes last year. It is very intuitive. I was worried at first if it would be able to handle my situation (relocating from GA to SC during 2014), but it was effortless to file returns for both states.
What's great about it: Communication in PLAIN English, not fancy accountant jargon!
What's not so great: No cons for me.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Reciprocity Income calculation error between NJ PA
on April 12, 2015
Posted by: Javis
I lived in PA and worked in NJ, but when i used this program to calculate and refund my NJ taxes, it tell me to enter "0" for NJ income source - which is what is supposed to be done. Even the program states that, but it kept erring out saying I had to enter my NJ income, and not leave it at "0". It is buggy. Not happy about it. After i paid for Efile to NJ, it is sating it cannot Efile. Not happy !!!
What's great about it: Easy to work through the steps
What's not so great: Does not allow for reciprocity tax calculations, state Efile expensive
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I like Turbo Tax because it makes it easier to do my own taxes. I like that it puts all the information related to capital gains in the right forms.
What's great about it: Can do the return myself without going through the lengthy interview.
What's not so great: Can be difficult to go back and change an entry
Pros: I bought or sold investments

TurboTax makes it easy

Within 1 day, TurboTax was able to alert me of my mistake and allow a correction at no extra charge. Much easier than finding out weeks later from the IRS. No charge to re-submit! Great Service!
What's great about it: Was able to do taxes several ways quickly to get the best refund.
What's not so great: Since each form is not necessarily shown, it's easy to overlook certain boxes to check or un-check.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

I've used TT for many years and it's great. This year, I had some confusion around the questions w/ my state refund. A bit convoluted but I think I answered the questions correctly. Please review that section in the future and offer more "tips" in that area.
What's great about it: Download capabilities - ADP, Fidelity Investments
What's not so great: State Refund area confusing
Pros: I bought or sold investments
