Simple (thankfully)

Turbo Tax Premier

It was very challenging to deal with trying figure out how to handle excess contributions. The program wanted to keep including a 2014 excess contribution as income on the substitute 1099R. I finally simply did not do so. I am hoping that since it was taken out before tax day that it was not to be included and this seemed to reach the correct answer
What's great about it: It did most everything needed
What's not so great: Dealing with excess Roth IRA contriutions

Frustrating

This was very frustrating this year. First the software did not want to update to the higher version (Premier). After 45 minutes with the support center (they were awesome to work with), we decided that I needed to install using the Premier CD version. The CD came extremely quickly. I had to uninstall the Deluxe version to get Premier to work. Once I got going, I got stuck in the State. It did not want to update and give me the State forms. I was stuck in a loop. After restarting, uninstalling, and re-installing again. I was still stuck. As a last resort, I went to another computer and it worked beautifully.
I am hoping that next year will not be so frustrating.

What's great about it: Was quicker than paper, support was great, shipping new CD was awesome
What's not so great: software did not want to update, had to get the updated version & install on another machine
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Error Free Guarantee?

The 'Deluxe' package purchased had issues with the Intuit changes. The refund offered for the 'Premier' buy-up was not provided. Lastly, prevented from e-filing (first year out of it's hard to remember in which I had to go back to mailing the return). Would like a refund, suspect it may not be fulfilled, and believe the multi-year run (believe it is 15+) may be coming to an end.
What's great about it: None for 2014
What's not so great: TurboTax prevented e-filing

TURBOTAX pREMIER

IRA contribution and recharacterization section is next to non existant. I could not follow how to get to the form 8606 or take into account moving roth ira funds from 2014 into 2015 tax year
What's great about it: Easy to follow questions
What's not so great: No easy way to go to or find tax forms

2014 Tax Comments

What's great about it: Entering info for forms and having them drop into the proper forms
What's not so great: Wrong calculation for electric vehicle. Also used erroneous data from 2013 taxes which caused a penalty payment
