Turbotax is great

I have used professional help as well as other software on two occasions, but for the past 12 years mostly Turbo Tax. Easy to use, make sure to read the help if not clear, that way you do your own tax and while you gather the paperwork you know how it will affect you taxes. I have rental, do giving, have many kids, lived in 4 states, so I had some variety and never felt uncomfortable.

Spent fewer hours than normal.
What's great about it: each year you make it easier
What's not so great: Need to improve the manner in which you continue a return in progress. It was difficult to retrieve.

Overall good experience and software

Everything works great and is simple except for filling in a Schedule C. It should pop up when you mention extra income on a 1099 for some simple outside consulting. Otherwise, it's great.
What's great about it: Easy to use, I like the guided tour feature. Great help with all categories of income and donations.
What's not so great: Not as easy if you have a small consulting business on the side.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Once I hit the "file return" button, nothing happened, no notice that I'd filed or moving to next page. So I hit file again and get "you are filing duplicate return". Hope you can fix that,

Very good but could be better

When trying to understand how TTX came up with the ABP and accrued interest credits, it would have been very helpful to have an explanation. I have both taxable and tax-free bonds. Eventually I realized TTX was apportioning the credit between the two (no credit for tax-free bonds). The ABP was a complete mystery. More explanation would have been helpful, e.g. clicking on the value in the form could have led to a calculation showing how the number was derived. It doesn't do that. Clearly, TTX knows how to do the calculation so it would seem simple to reveal that the user in the manner just described.
What's great about it: Does the calculations automatically
What's not so great: Does not provide explanations for what it does

I have used turbo tax for years. still very hard to fill out K-1 inf. and form 1116 inf.
What's not so great: very hard to navigate and compare with co. K-1 no wher to find all inf for explanations

Every possible question is asked when going through all income and deductions items. Comparisons are easily made to your previous year's filing. E-fing is very easy and payment is made simple by credit card or debit to bank account. It also allows direct input from investment houses as well - really makes it easy. It is hard to make a kistake.
What's great about it: covers all revenues and deductions thoroughly, easy e-file
What's not so great: none really
