Easy to Follow

Just a great easy system that catches all problems and errors.
What's great about it: Catches everything such as I was saved from contributing too much to a Roth IRA

I appreciate having the support to make this not pleasant tax more bearable. Now that I am used to it, the software seems relatively user friendly.
What's great about it: Help line--calls--were especially helpful and timely.
What's not so great: Many screens at the end before you could get to actually file were annoying.

Excellent Software

It is a pleasure to use this program. It contains explanations to educate you to what you may be eligible for. It takes the tedious task of calculations away. It also provides several year historical data for analysis and comparison. Great program.
What's great about it: As long as you have all your figures, it is a piece of cake to use.
What's not so great: none

Less the Stress

I have used TurboTax for years and always wait until the last minute. The screens are easy to follow and I can get an explanation on each page when necessary. It is nice not to have to do my own addition and subtraction and triple check numbers. Also great to be able to have information preloaded from the previous year. Thanks!!
What's great about it: So much easier than trying to do it by myself.
What's not so great: Can't think of any!

Thankless Chore

I've been using TurboTax for many years. Seems the chore gets easier each year despite added encumberances from the government.

Good but many overdue improvements needed

Turbotax is a big help to do any kind of return. Our tax codes and some of the requirements to pay taxes are downright ridiculous and complicated. Our congress should fix but that is another issue....
Turbotax often does not "know" information that should have been pulled in from last year's return. This year I had to re-enter my bank information for my state refund even though I already put it in for federal (to pay this year) and used last year. If this is a security issue, then just say so and ask to verify.
Also, I have a daughter who was dependent last year. I thought she was this year too. She did her taxes first. When she put in that she was a dependent, it DID NOT tell her that she made too much to be a dependent. BUT, when I did my return, it DID tell me. So now, she has to re-open her return to possibly change and file amendment.
What's great about it: Copies a lot of info from last year returns; easy access to IRS rules
What's not so great: Doesn't always use info from previous year or ask questions specific to your filing status (single, dependent, joint)

so easy compared to paper

I like the way Turbo Tax walks you through things step by step asking questions in plain English. Importing information from previous years return if you did it on Turbo Tax saves a lot of time typing in basic information over again. I also like that it gives you a chance to review it section by section to make corrections incase you have a typo, that way the forms are still right in front of you on top of the paper pile rather than waiting until the end when you'd have to sort through the paper pile again to find the correct form.
One year I tried a competitors computer program for tax prep and found it much less user friendly.

What's great about it: Does all the calculations, asks most questions in plane English, Imports from last years taxes
What's not so great: When asking for additional explainations it sometimes starts answering in "Taxese"
