Excellent program

Over all TT has helped me file taxes for several years, easy to use/navigate and has improved every year, being able to pull information from last year's return has saved me time, it does a lot of the work and figuring things out for me and helps maximize my returns.
What's great about it: has helped me file taxes for years
What's not so great: more explanations in certain areas would be helpful

Mostly good

Generally speaking, I continue to appreciate this program; but, handling the mineral interest royalties on the Federal return in this tool continues to require too many clicks on too many screens. If there was a competitive product that could do better, I would definitely consider switching.
In the case of the Oklahoma the explanations are extremely poor especially with adjusted depletions and depletion recapture. When prompted to identify income sources from the federal returns that should be associated with Oklahoma, the descriptions are cryptic if present at all.
What's great about it: Interface continues to be well organized and easy to use.
What's not so great: Incomplete and confusing for mineral interest royalties. Poor explanations in Oklahoma state return.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

turbo for tax

I think this is a great product if you are filing and don't have any unique or unusual situations, I don't really have one at the moment but am considering moving, if I do that, it will cause me to use those sections in case we'll see how it goes.

Working Hard not to feel Stupid

About this time every year, I wrestle with the decision to do my own taxes, or take a box of statements and receipts to a professional Tax Preparer. Not only are taxes complicated, but they change every year, and the penalty for mistakes can be costly. But Turbo Tax has consistently gives me:
(1) enough understanding to be confident of my answers
(2) more information if I need it...but only if I ask for it
(3) the ability to import and compare against last year's return

Most importantly, I care more about my taxes than anyone else, and Turbo Tax lets me review my answers as many times as I wish, without charging by the hour.
What's great about it: Questions in plain English that I don't need a law degree to understand.
What's not so great: Lots of questions in plain English...

Spared Me Lots of Entry and Computation

Fairly easy to use. Importing data from partners is a real time saver and accurate. One glitch I ran into was Turbo Tax understated by estimated tax payments for 2015. That's because Turbo Tax assumed the same amount of withholding in 2014 for 2015 and there was no easy way to override it. Had to use manual estimated tax forms.
What's great about it: Fairly easy to use. Can import data saving lots of entry time.
What's not so great: No easy way of overriding estimating tax payments calculated by Turbo Tax.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

First Time

This year my wife insisted on doing our taxes, so we installed the disc, and with minimal assistance from me, she completed our returns in slightly less than an hour.
Don't get me wrong. She's a savvy lady. She just hadn't ever done our taxes so this was her first experience with TurboTax.
Next year I'll bet she can do it in 30 minutes.
What's great about it: Easy, Fast, Comprehensive, Helpful, Doesn't Let You Screw up
What's not so great: None

I last used TTax 10 yrs. ago. It was very easy to follow along the process thanks to the sidebar. Now, it's harder to navigate, and to feel confident that all required areas are being confirmed.
What's great about it: +easy data entry (once understood)
What's not so great: -not easy to follow along in the forms, -not easy to navigate between sections
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments
