Great product if your return is simple, however iof you have K-1's, you might as well use the forms.
What's great about it: Download w-2 and 1099s
What's not so great: K-1's particularly Liquidations -- the pits!!

Turbo Tax

Overall Turbo Tax is a good software package. Noted some confusion when attempting to go back into the software to print out the state returns to mail in after the federal refund forms were e-filed. The option was to go through the federal again and uncheck the e-file option and mail the federal in by mail after e-filing it in order to reach the state forms to print out to mail. A warning was given not to mail in a federal return after e-filing it and thus was confusing for a moment. There should be a cleaner and clearer method to reach the state forms to print out to mail in if not e-filing the state with the federal forms.
What's great about it: easy to understand for the majority of the software
What's not so great: little confusing when attempting to print out state that is mailed and not e-filed with federal

Using TurboTax was really my best experience filing my taxes - without paying someone else to take away my pain!!!
What's great about it: The fact that you asked me about everything.
What's not so great: Nothing takes away all the STRESS!!
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion)

Make it more granular

I suggest creating two intermediate versions at appropriate price points, perhaps "Investor" and "Small business". The former would have stuff related to Schedule D and the latter, Schedule C. "Premier" would continue to include both. I suspect very few taxpayers need both.
I am not trying to get "something for nothing", but I resent paying a big increment for features I don't use.
What's great about it: I have found Turbotax to be a reliable, user friendly product and have used it for the last 10 years.
What's not so great: I am always on the border between "Deluxe" and "Premier" -- I need schedule D but I don't have a business.
Pros: I bought or sold investments

Good, but the premier upgrade scared me

I've used TurboTax for years. This year was very scary when TurboTax decided to drop the forms for sale of stocks and required an upgrade to get it. I purchased the same version I've been using for years, not knowing about this hidden surprise. This made me very untrustful of a tax package I've used for years. I'm glad they offered the upgrade for free and appear to have rescinded the upgrade requirement....but now I'm still wondering about what will happen next.
What's great about it: Detailed walk through of all tax situations
What's not so great: Additional $24.99 to file state taxes
