What's great about it: For the most part all sections were clear and useful.
What's not so great: Dealing with K-1's and MLP sale not as clear and I hope it is correct.

I can't wait till next year to do this again. Turbo Tax explains the process as you go through it and helps plan for next year.

2014 Taxes

We had moving expenses, sale of stocks, home office use, and rental property losses, most of the software was helpful but there are some parts like the sale of stock and office deductions that were not that clear and were confusing. Originally when the taxes were checked it came back with errors that even though I reviewed what was suppose to be wrong I could not figure out what exactly was wrong. I finally just deleted the deduction. We ended up with a standard deduction, but could I have done better if I understood what it wanted? My wife lost her job in 2013 and drew unemployment in 2014 so we had a lower income anyway. Just have an uneasy feeling about getting the most out of our deductions.
What's great about it: Step by step review of what is needed
What's not so great: Some explanations are not helpful. Special situations are not clear.
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I moved, I bought or sold investments

confusing 1041/K-1 information

The trust accountant prepared the initial 1041 form which I received; when you follow TT step by step the instructions are vague regarding the various boxes on 1041; in fact they are confusing in that they don't seem to coorespond at all in places. This was a simple trust and distribution but the capital gains portion of the instruction do not match the form or data input from the accountant at all.
What's great about it: other than 1041/K-1 forms the software is as easy as always
What's not so great: Form 1041/K-1 instructions made no sense compared to the form rceived

Was an ok tax process after the disappointment of trying to cover my filing with Deluxe, like I did the years before. Would have appreciated an earlier heads up.
What's great about it: Walked me thru the taxing process
What's not so great: Had to buy Premier after buying Deluxe

A great tool to wade through the tax laws

Each year TurboTax offers an easy way to complete our taxes by asking simple questions, identifying forms needed and walking through the myriad of tax law. We have confidence that we are contributing our fair share without the worry of making a clerical mistake or missing a potential deduction.
What's great about it: Easy user friendly interface
What's not so great: Must add info under details of stock options otherwise overtaxed
