Was not thrilled when I discovered the features previously in Deluxe were now in Premier and I had to upgrade. I upgraded, got an offer of a refund of the upgrade cost, then discovered I couldn't get the refund until after I had actually filed the 2014 taxes.
What's not so great: Features previously in Deluxe moved to Premier

Good surprise

As usual, your step-by-step guidance is very good. A major pain was the need to enter 39 items in form 1099-B. Also, I got confused by your instructions regarding the foreign tax credit. With small amounts (e.g., $100) you should make it clear that there is no need to enter any detail.

Help Button
on April 11, 2015
Posted by: SusanGG
In years past there was always a help button on each question page which would take you right to the answer you needed. ow if you click help in the upper right corner you have to enter keywords to be able to find your answer. Was so much easier and time efficient before
What's great about it: Like the easy of use of the product
What's not so great: Miss the help button on each page

Why re-enter question answers every time?
on April 11, 2015
Posted by: Nosendthetaxman
Some of the questions answers are not maintained. So, when reviewing a return you must re-enter them and cannot see what your answer was before. Example: Schedule K-1.
What's great about it: Consistent interface from year to year
What's not so great: Does not retain answers to some questions

needs work on entering K-1s
on April 11, 2015
Posted by: jimhwall
Needs to be better at entering a single K-1 which is acutally a multi-tier PTP. example is ETP They issue one K-1 but have values for three PTPs. Three columns, one for ETP and two others that they merged with. TurboTax provide no guidance on this situation.
If this doesn't improve I will switch to paying someone to do my taxes.
What's great about it: average
What's not so great: poor at K-1s
Pros: My job status changed this year (switched jobs, lost a job, got a raise or promotion), I bought or sold investments

Poor handling of K-1
on April 11, 2015
Posted by: Knight11111
OK product for straight forward returns. Biggest problems for me if poor handling of K-1's. As a result I cannot e-file using Turbotax.
Change in pricing structure this year was poorly handled. I continued using Turbotax only because it was available through Vanguard
What's great about it: OK for most forms
What's not so great: Generates errors for K-1 that cannot be fixe, generates erroneous K-1 worksheets
