Does it's job well!

After reading some of the other reviews, I decided to write one also. I am a 59 year old man and I have owned this product for 2 years, and have had no issues at all with it. The name "FreshSaver" should be an indication that this is meant for items that only require refrigeration. If you read the booklet that comes with it, it will tell you the bags are not to be put in the freezer or in boiling water. (They make another appliance for that)
I loved using this for things like cheese, vegetables, lunch meat (the small plastic containers worked really well) and leftovers that would be used in the next few days. I never had any problems with the unit not keeping a charge or removing the air from the bags or plastic tubs. Overall, I was very pleased with it, and the price was excellent.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Was great for a couple of months..

After a couple of months it will no longer hold a charge for more than 3 days sitting idle and it takes about half a day for it to fully charge. It needs to be recharged after a few bags are done. The suction power has lost its oomph. I was really excited about owning this but now I'm just flat out frustrated.

Good Product

We bought this and although it does a fairly good job, after several months the battery life is so poor that you almost have to recharge it after each use.
One great thing about the hand sealer and bag systems is that if there is any liquid in the bag, it will still seal because the water goes into the little cup and so the seal is perfect. Unlike the regular counter sealer which will not seal if water is sucked beyond the sealing wire.
Important: the bags for this product are not made for freezing. However, you can use packing tape over the sealing area to ensure that the seal stays in place. Otherwise, the little square where you place the hand sealer to the bag falls off and the seal is no longer of use.

Excellent for preserving cold cuts, cheeses, diced vegetables, etc. Only a slight criticism that it needs some base to stand as I leave mine on the counter for quick access.

Small, easy to use for quick sealing of deli containers. You don't have to bring out the larger Food Saver just to seal the container after making lunch. Love the small size for storage. I have the larger Food Saver as well which I use for bigger jobs and I love it as well. My food stays fresh in the freezer and my cold cuts stay fresh in the fridge for lots longer with the deli containers. I even use them to bring left overs for lunch.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love the handheld FreshSaver!!!

I purchased the Handheld Freshsaver when it first came out YEARS ago & to the best of our knowledge, we have had it about eight years! And other than when we moved, we have NOT unplugged the charger from the unit nor the wall! This has been a blessing in saving cheeses which have a tendency to mold if any air gets to it. Because we do buy in bulk (even for two people), we frequently lost food because we could not keep it from going bad. The Handheld is a life saver!!! The only negative is that there is no base for the new one...it just lays down on the counter whereas the older model came with its own base!

Was nice when it worked

I got this unit shortly after it came out, and after using it a couple of times (it takes a time or two to get it figured out) I liked it a lot. I mainly used it for the bags to seal lunch meat, cheese, bread, etc. Then shortly after the warranty ran out so did the battery life. I can barely get two bags sucked down (I try to expel as much as possible) before it dies and it takes all day to charge back up. I ended up buying the adapter for my counter machine and it works great. If you have a full unit, I suggest buying the adapter. The smallness and handiness of this unit is nice but if you have to buy a new one every year there's no savings.
The bags are okay, I wash and reuse them probably half a dozen times. Sometimes I get one that won't seal (zipper goes bad) after being used only a couple of times. You do have to make sure you have the zipper aligned and pressed together on a hard surface to get it to seal. Never have had the other issues stated, but these bags are only intended for refrigerator use, not freezing or boiling.
The containers work good, no issues at all.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hand held sealer

Amazingly handy sealer! Keeps the charge for a very long time, easy to use, seals in freshness of just about any kind of food stuff! Cheese, lunch eat, left overs, fruit, vegetables last so very long when sealed in the fresh refrigerator baggies with this little hand held "air-sucker"! Bought one for each of our daughter's kitchens. My eight year old grandson now wants to "help clean up" so he can "seal in the freshness" of our leftovers! Every kitchen needs this little tool and the bags are washable and reusable, just first wrap food in some plastic wrap to help keep the bag clean and sanitary. I've found that if I mark the bag with "fruit", "veggie", "lunch meat", etc. i won't risk cross contamination. I also have a large counter top freezer sealer and that seals foods fresh for the freezer. Love both amazing products! Sure beats the old way of sucking the air out of a refrigerator or freezer bag with a straw,
I would recommend this to a friend!
