If musicians can be wonderful unplugged, why not our toothbrushes. For many years I have used the plug in model of the Sonicare brush. When traveling, the addition of the the charging stand and the larger size of the Sonicare brush did not always mean that it was packed. This meant going days or weeks using a traditional toothbrush--with less than sterling results. The new Xtreme Battery Sonicare brush makes traveling with an electronic toothbrush much easier. Not only does it break down into smaller parts that fit into a grooming bag, but also the charger is not necessary. The batteries (two AA) last about a month with two regular brushings per day. Not bad at all (and just about the same amount of time available on a charger model if not left on the base). One downside, no audible alert to change brushing area/quadrant that's a standard feature of charger models. Life is good (again)!
Pros: convenient size for travel, very good battery life, same performance as the charger models
Cons: no audible reminder for brushing quadrant changes

I have used the Sonicare for many years and just now got the battery one and I like it just as well as I did the first brush that needed to be plugged in. My dentist says I am taking good care of my teeth.
Pros: super brush

Switched from my old sonicare - the one you plug in and recharge to this one. Not too happy if I have to change the batteries every 3 weeks.
Bought this one because of the price compared to the rechargeable one. Not sure that was a great idea.
Pros: cost
Cons: had to change batteries after 3 weeks

I really like the Sonicare Xtreme battery toothbrush. It cleans better than a manual toothbrush, and it costs a lot less than the cordless/rechargeable ones. I would definitely recommend this toothbrush to others!

This model is very basic, but it does the job. My teeth don't feel clean using any other toothbrush.

A condition I have is slowly deteriorating the enamel on my teeth. I bought this to see if I could make my teeth look better and they do.
