I have had problems with this toothbrush. The power keeps running out even though I have installed new batteries, it is a bit hit and miss everytime I turn it on as to whether its going to work or not.
I am extremely happy with my sonicare toothbrush.the setting are wonderful.I am elated with the angles I can get.I PROUDLY RECOMMEND THIS TOOTHBRUSH.

Poor Design

I previously had an Elite rechargeable model that I loved, but it finally died after 7 years. I thought I could save money by buying this HX3300 model that uses replaceable standard AA batteries. This is exceptionally poorly designed. Philips is capable of making an affordable and a quality product, but this is not one of them. The battery compartment is not properly sealed (so water gets in and messes up the electronics). I had to return the first one after two weeks. The current unit is no better, but I am very careful not to get it wet. The thing goes thru batteries pretty quickly (about 3 weeks). The brush head replacements are obscenely expensive. Philips needlessly stripped out features such as the 30-second timer.
I think the product does a good job and fits well in my hand, but I have to remove the batteries everyday or they are used up in less than a week. This is the second one I have bought and have the same problem with both.

charger not needed

Reviews made me think there could be leakage into the replaceable battery compartment but usage has demonstrated the simply wiping down the handle after use has prevented any such seepage.
I like the idea of not being forced into a rechargeable toothbrush as those never hold their charge, but the overall design is a bit cumbersome to hold in the hand. The on/off button is in an awkward position and I find myself having to fumble around trying to turn it off when brushing my teeth. The result is usually a face full of toothpaste splatter. Other than that it does a great job cleaning my teeth and I like the fact that it cuts off automatically after 3 minutes.
Pros: brushes great, cleans teeth great
Cons: bad positioning on power button, clunky

Great for travel use

I am a longtime user of the Sonicare brushes but have had problems bringing them on week-long vacations. The charger is heavy, or you need to worry about international outlets to plug into. This inexpensive, lightweight option has all the benefits of a Sonicare, without the drawbacks, when used occasionally (for travel a few times per year). You must remove the batteries when it is not going to be used for a while, but that is the only maintenance required. I had read reviews that criticized the design for not being water-tight, but so far I have not had any problems with water getting inside the unit. I would never take a trip without this in my suitcase! I would miss that clean feeling too much.
Pros: portable, effective, inexpensive
Cons: may not last forever

I remove my brush head each day and store it in a small cup so it can drain completely, before I discovered that I found lots of black gunk probably due to toothpaste and water remaining inside.
