This product supplements the traditional product. I like this one because it uses replaceable batteries and does not require a cord. I like to take it on trips. The brush heads are interchangeable between models I own.
Pros: no cords
Cons: must replace batteries
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have used Sonicare for about 20 years and have loved it. The battery-powered version is great and gets my teeth really clean but works for only a month. My second unit, a replacement for my first battery-powered brush, just stopped working this week. I've tried new batteries--Nothing. Most frustrating!
Pros: works great
Cons: stops working after only a few weeks

Inexpensive & effective but a battery hog

I have enjoyed using this product. The head is small enough to get behind my back teeth and is so comfortable to use I brush more frequently. I only have two complaints:
1) There is a huge area between the brush head and the motor handle where water and bacteria accumulate between brushing even if you disassemble, rinse, and air dry the two parts. This area is easy enough to get an old toothbrush into to clean but could be smoother so that there are fewer nooks and crannies for muck to collect. There is also an area at the base of the brush head where there are all kinds of nooks and crannies for stuff to collect and feed bacteria.
2) While I understand that the product draws a fair amount of current, I find that a set of AA batteries lasts about two weeks before they can't power the brush. However they still have plenty of power left for low current/infrequent draw applications, such as remote controls for TV, DVD, Stereo, etc. I've purchased two sets of rechargeable NiMH AA batteries and a charger so that I'm constantly throwing away AA batteries.

I particularly like this product, because it is so portable. That way I am always getting my teeth their cleanest. The first batteries lasted about 6 weeks.
Pros: clean teeth and healthy gums, easy to take when traveling, comfortable in my mouth, good price for healthy teeth
