iMac Desktop Unit Back UP

The APC unit was easy to unpack and set up. It was smaller then the unit it replaced but up time was longer and it had more features. The APC unit offers surge protection for internet and telephone cable as well as AC power. Since the APC unit has been installed there was one power outage of short duration so the iMac stayed operational the whole time.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love APC

Have used APC Backup-UPS for years. They have an excellent product, quick service. I like the battery exchange program, I don't have to wonder now what do I do with the old battery. Which is a big deal for me since I am in an area that doesn't have many recycling options.

This is my second unit in 12 years. It works great.
I like the trade-in program which I find very useful since I am disabled and disposal would be very difficult for me under every other situation.

i got 4qty of this to protect our computers at work from small surges and power outages. I takes the load for 2 to 3 mins until you can close your work and shut down the PC. So far its been good. Also the software that comes with it is very handy as it keeps a track of when and how long of power surges/outages you have experienced.

When I bought this backup, I was under the impression that the software would shut down my applications safely prior to shutting down the computer. Not so! I am a Mac user and the software performs an "emergency shutdown" of the computer and all open applications are closed without saving data or changes, etc. This could result in loss of data. Beware. I would say the user should close all applications as a precaution during storms or if you are not at your computer for an extended period of time.

Major Improvement

I upgraded from an older 350 to this newer 450. My run time went from less than five minutes to over an hour. The old unit had done very well for several years and I had not considered an upgrade. Now I'm reviewing all my UPS units. I have used APC Back-UPS for years and they just keep getting better. I protect my CPU, network modem, and Internet modem with the battery backup and fill the other slots with other items.
