This should not be classified as a SmartUPS model because it is not much more than a BackUPS unit. This UPS does not put out a continuous sine wave as the regular SmartUPS models do. It is a stepped sine wave which may cause strange problems with various power supplies. It also has about 1/3 of the runtime of the normal 1500VA SmartUPS. You won't know that unless you do a comparison of the two.

Supplies the power like it should, but I'm running Win7 64 bit and could not find a USB driver so the software could communicate with the UPS for shutdown.

APC has the best customer service. They stand behind their products, the products are trouble free. Love the trade up program! Even after a year - was able to trade up when my new computer did not work on the old ups.
