USB problems
on February 12, 2011

I am unable to get the Software to notice the UPS that is connected via the USB connection. I know that that USB port is good since I had my printer connected to it before. I even tried rebooting, no difference.
I have had APC UPS before and will continue, I just hate when we run into these bumps in the road..

Battery connections "impossible"
on March 24, 2011

This unit replaces a BR800 that failed after only six or seven years *(the unit, not just the batteries). This one has better features such as the wider spaced plugs, but it was almost impossible to get the battery far enough out of the case to connect the positive lead (the negative lead was pre-connected). Someone with lesser mechanical skills could not have done it, and I'm not sure what I will do if/when I have to change the battery.

Quiet and effective

This is not only the coolest looking battery backup (small and compact) its very quiet and effective. I have large tower PC with DVD external DL DVD burner and 19" LCD monitor all protected. As well as my Network Data cable for power surge protecting internet and LAN. Has not missed a beat. Quality product, highly recommend.

I wrote something about the upgrade then this site wiped it out. Anyway, I like the item, it will prevent my computer from crashing during power failure. Haven't had one yet. Just saying.

I purchased this unit to replace an 8 year old CS350 unit that got fried in a thunderstorm. It had worked fine until then. The 350 saved my computer, accessories, and data just fine. I have had the 650 more than a month now and everything is good. I purchased the larger unit to allow for future expansion.

Back-up 650

Replaces old one that "died". Only part that was difficult to use was connecting the battery. Wire hard to get to, too still and difficult to bend and conect. I spent thirty minutes trying to gt the wire out, bend it, connect to battery, put battery back in and closr the compartment. Works great!

necessary purchase

Bought this model to replace my older BackUPS500 unit to protect my computer equipment. I expect this one to be just as reliable as the older model, even though this one is noisier. Sounds like the battery circuitry "talks" as it tries to recharge the backup battery.

One improvement this model has over earlier models is the USB on the UPS.
