I have had many APC units over perhaps a 20 year period of time. They have always been reliable. But a unit that is dead after less than a year has me wondering if the quality of work at APC has deteriorated. I will try another model. I also have a model 850 that was purchased at the same time.
However I won't allow APC another chance if this occurs again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Better than buying a new UPS

We have several APC Back-UPS 650's located through-out the office and prefer to purchase a new battery rather than buy an entire unit. The connectors have a snug fit and may need a little extra encouragement to get properly attached. The batteries have a long life, so you will not need to constantly replace the battery. Thanks to APC's free return label, disposal is a breeze.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not totally happy

I was disappointed that this UPS had no software support for an iMac. The unit works great but I was use to the software telling me if I had a problem when I had a PC. Shipping was very slow also, that needs improvement.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent Experience

Have used 20+ APC Battery Backups for 10+ years w/o any negative results. Bought 25-650's in 1995 w/some still goin strong. Bought 10-1000's at the same time and haven't even replaced batteries in some of them.
Are just now replacing the older units w/new more energy effecient models of the same size. Never considered any other brand, simply due to service and reliability.

Great Product - Love the Green Option

Let's face it. Everyone should have their computers attached to a UPS. Agreed? Ok, it that's the case why wouldn't you use an APC Back-UPS ES 8 Outlet UPS? Everyone has lots of things that need to be plugged in and protected, either by surge protection or battery backup. 8 outlets are better than 6!
The really nice thing about the APC products, other than their quality, is that when one dies, and they all die eventually, you can order a new one. The price is discounted because you are going to send your old one back to them. This eliminates these things ending up in the landfill somewhere.
Great all around. New, more power UPS and they take the old one away. You don't even pay for shipping for the return.
I won't go anywhere else for my UPS's.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great home UPS

Excelent purchase - however it would be better if it came with a little longer battery connector. The battery compartment is very small and the connector wire very short - it takes some fumbling and use of small tools to get it connected.
I would recommend this to a friend!
