the best vacation camera you can possibly own. you can't beat this this camera with a stick. install a large memory card and you will have great pictures and video rain or shine, in the pool, or in the ocean. i have gone on 3 cruises with this cam and have been very satisfied by the underwater snorkeling video each time. get it and you will be glad you did
Pros: great underwater video, great jpeg pics, not cumbersome easy to use and keep with you, vacation must have, good battery life

I take this camera everywhere in or out of the water. I love it! I got it after loosing 2 digital cameras in the water at the beach. I can follow my girls in the water to take pics. I get great photos of them. My five year old loves to see herself under the water. Every one who sees it want one. Have always had Canon cameras and this one is just as good as my others. It is A little thick but I will trade that for adventure proof anyday.
Pros: great picture quality, loves the face finder feature
Cons: a little bulky, lcd scrathces easy becuse it is flat

Family Trip Must Have!!!

I purchased the D10 to use on our family trip to Florida and it performed exactly as advertised...perfectly. The underwater pictures were even more clear than I thought they would be. The camera was easy to use and the battery lasted the entire day. The only thing I would change would be to recess the viewing screen slightly as it is flush right now, and when it was moved on the pool deck it left permanent scratches on the screen. This is a great product that i would recommend to anyone wanting to take pictures around water.

Very happy after 2+months
on August 20, 2010

I got this for my birthday in June. I already have a 20D DSLR and was excited to get something more portable to take on outdoor adventures. It has performed great on a beach camping trip, indoors, shooting my front yard, at an amusement park, and on a backpacking trip to over 12,000 feet. On the backpacking trip, I used it to shoot trout underwater and they came out great, when I could get them in the frame! Thus far very happy with it and it is a nice complement to the DSLR. The ability to get it in the water and not worry about it in adverse conditions is great. I've read that "it's too big to put in a pocket", but I guess I have big pockets because I do that all the time. About the only thing I'm not totally happy with is the optical zoom. Once you zoom in further, things get shaky, and noisy. It's tough to zoom in past the 3X point and still get clear, clean shots w/o a good tripod.
Pros: really easy to use, u/w mode works great, tons of auto modes
Cons: a bit more optical zoom would be excellent

Nearly perfect

No it doesn't shoot SLR quality images, nor does it zoom in or out quite as far as one might like; but, for a rugged point and shoot it is very good. I have several of these being used in varied ways and I find tem to be my go to's more and more. Some people dislike its size, weight and shape, I am the opposite, I think it is perfect in this regard. Also the lack of HD video is a detractor to some; to me it is a bonus as editing a smaller video file is much easier. The bottom line is that they are well rounded effective tools.
Pros: durable, easy to use

Awesome Camera!

I love this camera! I have it over a year now! I bring it everywhere, dropped it so many times, in snow conditions, water conditions and it sill lives!
I absolutely love the manual focus mode and the long shutter hold perfect for night creative shots, wish it was still a little longer though.
The battery life - a few times, I haven't charged the battery within 2-3 week period and still able to capture awesome images with it!!!
I sometimes have hard time capturing images, its usually because I do not have the right setting or I shake my hands too much.
I do wish that the camera is capable with art filters or even have a UV protection lense. I also wish it has HDMI video recorder.
Despite that, I still love my cannon waterproof camera, its my baby :)
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: no hdmi

I researched and finally got this camera for taking phootos while fishing and outdoors in a saltwater conditions. Good camera to take on a boat in saltwater and not worry about damage. Also good general purpose camera for all other conditions. Excellent sound for video and picks up sound. If you can hear it so dos the camera only you can increase volume on playback.
Pros: moisture proof
Cons: instructions could be easier

Great Underwater Camera
on June 9, 2012

from Puerto Rico
I researched underwater cameras to use on my trip to Puerto Rico and looked at some other brands besides Canon (to give them a fighting chance). I chose this one because of it's range (up to 33ft underwater), 12.1 megapixels, durable design, wide temperature range, and shock resistant abilities.
This camera made a great companion as I climbed waterfalls in the rainforest, and snorkeled off the coast. It has a great battery life and takes amazing pictures in and out of the water. Its range of settings lets you take full advantage of many different scenes, from low-light to bright.
It not only functions well as an adventure camera, but it is also great to carry with you anywhere you go. Due to its underwater abilities, you can take it to the beach even if you don't plan on going in the water (no worries about sand and salt spray), or where ever you want (no worries about getting caught in a rainstorm!)
The only drawbacks are its slightly bulky design; it won't fit in your pocket as easily as others can. Also, the outer case scratches easily- this is only a cosmetic problem. I do wish the zoom was better, which seems to be available in the D-20 model with a 5x zoom.
One word of advice is to soak it well for a few hours in fresh water immediately after exposing it to salt. When you do soak it, make sure to take off any wrist lanyards attached to one of the 4 corner attachment sites. (I didn't, and the little attachment at the end of the lanyard became corroded because the fresh water could not get in to wash out the salt, and it almost became permanently attached.) If sand gets on any outside part of the case, rinse it off rather than trying to wipe it with your hand- this could lead to scratches. If sand or moisture gets into the compartments, remove it with a q-tip. MAKE SURE the rubber seals are lint and particle free when you close the battery and computer attachment compartments. I suspect the failure to do this is how some people end up with 'leaky' cameras. Water pressure will take advantage of any gaps, no matter how small.
Besides the superior designs which have made me appreciate Canon, their service department is the best I have ever encountered. They are very quick, honest, and if you have a legit problem with their product, they will fix or replace it quickly.
Pros: Bright LCD, good button placement, versatility, quick startup, easy to use, crisp pictures, nice battery life, kid friendly
Cons: limited zoom, slightly bulky shape
