Can save great memories!

After reading many of the review, I have some thoughts on things. As for odd size or too big....I got this camera mostly for its underwater use. I would think using a slim, little camera would be harder to orchestrate underwater. I would hold it firmly in my hand and do great aiming with one hand. It was a wavy day, so the water was not perfectly clear, but with using the Picasa editing program and using Picasa's I FEEL LUCKY editing button...the pics "blew" up with great vivid colors! It brought into view stuff I did not see!
As for quality of pics..I am a Canon SLR user. The D10 does not give that quality. But for moments when I want to take pics and the event does not qualify or is not safe to carry my larger/more expensive camera...the D10 is great for that.
Much better for outdoor use, than indoor. But that is what we have editing programs for!
But I would surely follow the soaking instructions after underwater use. After swimming in the ocean, we soaked it for the instructed 3 hrs and we had brown stuff still floating out. But the camera is still working great!

This camera ROCKS I used it in the freezing Guadalupe River this past weekend in the Hot Texas heat and all my pictures rock! I have dropped it several times and it still works like brand new! Highly recommend this cameral to all, it would be awesome for children as well! My kids are always taking snapshots in the water with it in the pool!
Pros: awesome!
Cons: it needs a cover for the lense and display

Needed a waterproof camera
on July 12, 2010

I needed a waterproof camera and I love Canon products (The best cameras out). I hunt, fish and spend many days in the field being exposed to bad weather. I have tried other waterproof cameras with little satisfaction and hoped the Canon D10 would be the last one I would ever buy. Overall the picture quality was outstanding good speed from picture to picture and good features. THen I got it into the water and then we started to have problems. On a trip to Grand Cayman we swam with the Stingrays and after about 10 minutes on in and out of the water the screen began to flash and look distorted. So I took it out of the water opened it to let it dry and the screen began to work again. This was a disapointment to say the least. But it did redeam itself, in Belize we visited some Ruins and it began to rain. The rain was very hard at times and lasted almost all day. The D10 worked great all day in the rain with no screen issues. All those memories I would have missed! So overall the Canon D10 is a great camera but as for waterproof NO, It is what I would call water resistant.
Pros: picture quality, speed, night shooting, tripod adaptable
Cons: not waterproof/it is water resistant

Do not purchase

We have sent our camera in 3 times due to technical issues. First off we found out this camera is not to be used in Salt Water. This is after we bought it specifically for our Hawaii vacation and had it in the water only to see bubbles coming out screen and it ate the inside up. So we were without a camera on vacation. Another time the lens had an error so we had to send it in again. And now something else is wrong and were sending it in again. We have 2 other Canon camera's that work fine.
Cons: add a con

Doing a lot of fishing this summer. Picked up camera in west glacier MT because i didn't want to damage sony dslr. Have faith in camera shop (have bought accesories there before very knowledgeable staff) and relied on their judgement as to the quality of the camera. Have been absolutely impressed with it in every way. Still figuring out the various features, but was able to take it out of the box and take good pictures. I'm hard on electronics in general but this thing is still going and it doesn't get babied. good all around piece of equipment. iwould recommend it to anyone who spends time fishing or hunting.
Pros: very fast startup no waiting, double tough
Cons: sometimes hard to navigate through all features

I'm up to four!

Absolutely the best camera for the price and size on the planet. My surfer/fisherman/student son has one and loves it. My daughter who went diving this summer in the Caribbean (down to 85') took gorgeous under and over water photos. My wife and I just returned from Cat Island (Bahamas) and we love ours. The fourth we just gave as a wedding present to friends who honeymooned in the Caribbean and they love it. Not just for underwater, but all photos. Only minor cons I would say is that the zoom is a bit inconvenient, and the video - although great quality - really eats battery life. Great, great camera.
Pros: quality above and below water, ease of use, size
Cons: video really eats battery life, zoom is a bit incovenient

Very Satisfied Photographer

Purchased this camera for my birthday and am so far very pleased with the results. The resolution and color are excellent. Some of the pictures that I took indoors actually look better than in real life! How is that possible? I haven't used the camera underwater yet, but am looking forward to doing so. Will probably end up buying an underwater housing as soon as one becomes available so that I can take it deeper than 33 feet. The one thing I would have liked to see on this camera would be a function to control the flash output...a feature I've used quite a bit in my older Canon A620. Would also have liked to see a lenscap.
Pros: High resolution, fast startup, excellent color, easy to use, special scene modes
Cons: no flash output control, no lenscap, limited zoom range

Camera takes excellent pictures and is great around water, I bought this camera for use on a Colorado River trip and it worked out great, some little problems with keeping water off the lens but was able to keep it dry with a soft lens cloth.
Pictures are excellent.
Works great around the pool with kids.
Easy to use and light to carry.
Pros: quality of pictures
Cons: needs a lens cover
