After some web research for a digital underwater camera, I decided a diver camera was too expensive and checked to see if Canon had an underwater product. I researched the D10 and decided to purchase one for a recent Carribbean snorkeling trip. This camera is excellent. It takes outstanding underwater pics, is easy to use, and is reasonably priced. In showing my pics to other snorkelers I bet I sold it 10 people with just the picture quality. Maybe Canon will hire me as an agent :-). This is an excellent product and I am very happy with the purchase.
Im not a pro-photographer by any definition, but i love to take pics everywhere i go. However, i used to miss out on many opportunities due to the lack of features of previous cameras. This camera is Great, it takes pics under water (with sound), great colors, awesome features and great price. I have taken this camera to the beach, rivers, lakes, snow-boarding etc... no problems at all!! Everyone that sees me with it, want to buy it. I only wish it was a bit slimmer. either way, i love this cam!
Pros: price, underwater with audio, great quality, good battery life
When we decided to take a seven day trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, we wanted a waterproof camera to take pictures and videos as we ran the rapids. In addition to water, the river can become quite muddy/sandy due to summer storm runoff from side canyons. The D10 performed wery well and the pictures are quite impressive and clear.Since there in no electricity on the river trip and the D10 cannot be recharged using a photovoltaic charger, we purchased two additional batteries, which turned out to be a wise investment as each battery lasted a just a little more than two days on the river. (this of course would not be a problem back in civilization) It was easy to switch back a forth from still shots to video. I also set the programable third top button to toggle the screen off and on to conserve battery life. The strap can be moved to any conrner of the camera whiich proved useful since it could be strapped to the left hand, leaving the right hand free to shoot without the strap getting in the way.
Pros: ease of use, rugged feel, repositionable strap
Cons: battery life and non rechargable using solar
As a offshore yacht racer, I eagerly awaited the release of the Canon D10. We used the camera (exclusively) on our recent race across the Pacific from Los Angeles to Honolulu. The camera was used by everyone onboard and typically stayed above deck the entire trip (in the rain, heat, cold, etc.). The image quality and video of the camera has allowed us to create a professional video of the race to share with our friends and family. The size, quality, and price-point for the camera greatly exceeded our expectations!
Pros: size and duribility, image and video quality, smart "pre-sets", battery life, carrying case
I only use Canon Cameras because of it great color pictures and easy viewing of Videos. But for and Uknown Reason on this new model Canon change the Video Format to MOV wich is a CONS because you will need to intsall Quciktime in order to view the videos and no longer be able to see Pictures and Videos using Very Simple Windows Picture Preview
This camera ROCKS I used it in the freezing Guadalupe River this past weekend in the Hot Texas heat and all my pictures rock! I have dropped it several times and it still works like brand new! Highly recommend this cameral to all, it would be awesome for children as well! My kids are always taking snapshots in the water with it in the pool!
Well, my love got this for me. since i broke my old camera due to water accident... i accidentally dipped it in the sea from one of my outdoor adventure (coz i love going to places most especially the beach and do nature trips)...but i usually stick to the conventional digital camera.. used to have an Olympus... Now, my boyfriend who loves gadgets too bought me Canon powershot D10 since i am adventurous... i wish he got me an SLR too.. said soon we will have one... i love the underwater shots! the best setting for taking still photos is aquarium setting... the colors of the fish were captured...wish to share some of my shots underwater both video and photos... i also love the picture quality of it... it makes it so lovely...so vibrant.. well not as vibrant as what you get from SLRs ... well it is Canon's forte... the color / picture quality.. both for camcorders and still photo cameras...
ooohh.. the underwater shots are awesome (2nd time)... autofocus is okay...just requires real close distance to do this... yeah it is bulky.. but.. i dont mind.. so long as it would survive in any condition...since i am sort of clumsy... thanks to its waterproof, shockproof, freezeproof, dustproof features... hahaha!
