Close to perfect!

This is an amazing camera! Not only are the underwater shots amazing (as verified by some friends who are ultra-snobby about underwater picture quality), but every other picture I've taken- from landscapes to macros of really small orchids-- have been the best of any camera I've ever had (and I have some cameras much "fancier" than this one!)
For the product developers-- for the next version, make the "quick option button" (picture of a little printer) have more options-- I really wish I could switch from single shots to the multiple shot option on the fly, rather than having to go into the menu.
Pros: amazing macros!, great underwater pictures, camera adjusts itself to any condition, ability to switch where strap attaches
I would recommend this to a friend!

flooded D10 came to life again after 3 months

Okay... this is freaking awesome for CANON Powershot D10 - also known as their (words here) PROOF camera...
and this is no joke!
I guess what they meant with waterproof is way beyond its exterior but also its internal mechanism.
I've written a review before about this camera when i got this last year of june. And i totally loved it, we loved it.
And another review after it got flooded.
This is my 3rd review of this camera.
We got this June 2009... Have been very useful in our nature trips both for taking underwater photos and videos... most esp. with salt/fresh water. We've used this in so many places which involves salt water!
April 2010 -- was about to use it for our night swimming at a workmate's place.
Was able to take 5 photos in the pool shower. While dipped in the pool, i tried to take shots, was able to take one shot in the pool and a short video, then it suddenly turned off... Bham! Wont turn on. Looking at it, screen and lens began to show waters in them, guessing water went in the A/V port seal, because when i checked all seals, its the one wet inside.
When i got home, it got even more obvious, the water totally flooding the lens like it's crying and so as the mists on its screen.
So we bought a new D10 for me to be able to use for my upcoming spelunking/trekking trip in the highlands.
My then BF now hubby, brother and I even kept it as a secret from my parents... =)))
I left it in the **** for my brother to use *lucky him* and bought all possible protections for it in case they will use it underwater (dicapac -- weird but i did bought a dicapac for my 2nd D10), and brought the flooded D10 to the US since it was ordered here.
September 11, 2010 -- was cleaning and rearranging stuffs at home... then i came across my flooded D10, no more water in the lens, and only got some few mists / fog on the screen but barely noticeable......it has been looking dry 2 months ago but its still dead each time i attempted turning on its power...
*we have not thrown it yet coz we planned to return it to canon which we forgot to or we can just dissect it and play with it in the future *
i know it's broken, but i just want to mess with it this time, putting the battery on the camera and pushed the power button...
Waaaaaaaaaah! -- it turned on!
I took my first shot ever since it got flooded...
I had a decent one!
And took more shots to test it...
All photos turned out so fine and there's no sign of weird markings that the flooding may have caused.
Plus... its original canon battery, still has charge in it. The last time it was charged was April 2010, and it's already September 2010. This is a wow for me and my husband!
Now my concern is my camera's accessories which i left in the **** with my brother having my 2nd and newer D10... case, strap, charger, and extra batts.
It's working like its never been flooded...
This is a case of RESURRECTION!
CANON i salute you and i love you!
Imagine, my once dead Powershot D10 has revived life on its own!
To CANON:
if you want to see the before and after photos of my D10, feel free to email me for it. it's even on my FB coz i was soooo happy about it and so astounded. I knew some people who had to bring their flooded D10's in the repair centers and leave them there instead of having it repaired since the centers are asking for almost the same price to fix it...that's nuts.. but hey... this is something you should check on your next waterproof camera, if you will be producing a new one. Test it for the same accident i had.
Though i know people doesnt have 3-4 months to wait for it to completely dry up internally. Like us, we bought a 2nd D10.
Pros: tough from inside-out, takes good underwater videos and photos, works well with all water types, if got flooded give it some drying time
Cons: bulky

Love Canon Forever

Well, my love got this for me. since i broke my old camera due to water accident... i accidentally dipped it in the sea from one of my outdoor adventure (coz i love going to places most especially the beach and do nature trips)...but i usually stick to the conventional digital camera.. used to have an Olympus...
Now, my boyfriend who loves gadgets too bought me Canon powershot D10 since i am adventurous... i wish he got me an SLR too.. said soon we will have one...
i love the underwater shots!
the best setting for taking still photos is aquarium setting...
the colors of the fish were captured...wish to share some of my shots underwater both video and photos...
i also love the picture quality of it...
it makes it so lovely...so vibrant.. well not as vibrant as what you get from SLRs ...
well it is Canon's forte... the color / picture quality.. both for camcorders and still photo cameras...
ooohh.. the underwater shots are awesome (2nd time)...
autofocus is okay...just requires real close distance to do this...
yeah it is bulky.. but.. i dont mind.. so long as it would survive in any condition...since i am sort of clumsy...
thanks to its waterproof, shockproof, freezeproof, dustproof features... hahaha!

Not reliable
on December 8, 2010

I bought this camera at the beggining of the year and was very happy. But after my first surftrip the camera broke down. Sent to Canon and they repaired it, but at the first time in the water it broke down again.
The camera is good, little too big, but it's not reliable at all.
I'm gonna send it for repair again... And I won't have it for my New year's holiday trip. Will I receive a reliable camera at this time?!?!
Think twice before buying it.
Cons: Heavy/Bulky, not reliable

Best camera ever!

I've had this camera for about a year and I love it! It's great because I can literally bring it anywhere. I'm a bit care free, so not having to worry about sand on the beach, getting it wet when a wave knocks me over, or a friend dropping it is the best! I particularly like how clear the auto focus is, and how there's no blur on action shots. I also love the color accent feature which is the main reason I bought a canon in the first place. There are a few downsides though. Its kind of bulky and there's condensation under the LCD when I leave it in direct sunlight which got there even before I submerged it in water. It's also not the best at taking pictures inside with out the flash on. But really these problems do not out weigh how awesome this camera is. I get compliments about it all the time and I hope it will last me till I'm 100 gazillion years old.

While on vacation in the Keys, my 2 year old grandson threw my camera over the patio and it landed 40 ft. down in the sand.[my mistake letting him hold it!] It survived,it's still waterproof, and takes great underwater shots. When Canon says it's shockproof they mean it!

Worked for a year then sporadic

We have two of these cameras, mine worked fine for the first year and now, I get a lens error often and this morning it will turn on then off immediately, with a full battery charge. We bought this camera hoping it would last more than a year, especially for the price and we are VERY disappointed. I would not recommend this to anyone looking for a long term camera.
