Great for snorkeling

I regularly shoot a digital SLR but got the D-10 for a trip to Hawaii specifically for snorkeling. It worked really well for that purpose. I took it down to about 15 feet. No leaks or other problems at all. And, because of the built-in "underwater" setting and the ability to set white balance and use the strobe, the results were remarkable. I now have a 2X3 foot poster on my wall and it is sharp as a tack with great color saturation.
The pleasant surprise was how well the camera did out of the water. I put it in my pocket at night and got sunset and night shots in Waikiki using built-in settings and these shots rival what I can do with my SLR.
I've heard criticism about the camera's bulk compared to other point-and-shoot cameras - yes it is bigger, but it is also more rugged and versatile, and as an SLR user, the size was not a drawback. I've also heard that some complain about the controls, but I actually found them pretty intuitive. I'm not sure what the complaint could be, but then, I'm not used to other point-and-shoot digital cameras, so I found the learning curve pretty easy.
My only real "con" is that the wide-angle to telephoto range is pretty small. And let's face it, you pay quite a bit for the ability to take this camera underwater or into adventure situations. For me, it was worth it.
I bought the D10 in Jan. and have tested it on every scn. setting except fireworks . and it works fine although it is a bit to slow in kids and pets but i don't feel it was built for action shots . the colors are good and sharp. the only thing i wish it came with was a float attachment for the water . a key chain float works just fine though. and maybe a lanyard that was long enough to go around your neck with two attachment clips on it . I am around water a lot and have wet three other cameras all died. this one is great when u get wet .
I bought the D10 for my son's biology class snorkling trip to Belize. The LCD failed the first time out. This was the same experience for another class mate's D10. These 2 cameras do not appear to be waterproof. I have been a loyal Canon customer for 30 years. I certainly hope they stand behind their products.
I bought the camera in Oct 2009, test it in the pool a couple of times and during a vacation trip in Costa Rica last week, it failed (and I was not even under water), the display got blank, the camera takes pictures but I cannot see the controls or the photos in the display... it has been very disappointing...
I bought mine in Aug 2009 and made over a thousand pictures while snorkeling in the Red Sea. The screen is probably the best feature in this camera. It is very bright so I didn't have any problem recording videos and taking pictures. I would recommend this camera primarily as underwater camera. It is a little bit slow if you want to use it everywhere around and I wish video quality was a bit better. Somehow I managed to let some water to get in the battery section during my recent trip to Bahamas. I mailed the camera body to the service center and was sceptically waiting for the diagnosis. I knew that warranty didn't cover water damage so I wasn't expecting to get my camera back, but apparently they found a manufacture defect. It might have been that battery compartment wasn't sealing perfectly. So miracle happened and I got a brand new D10 in the box as a replacement. I think D10 is one of the best underwater camera in market at this point, but if I need a good camera for everyday pictures "on the land" I would probably buy a regular Canon camera but would definitely keep this one for my trips!
Brought this camera to Jamaica and let me tell you it was flawless. Loved it, took great pictures AND video underwater fresh and salt. out of water anywhere it is a real REAL nice camera. highly recommended. Lots of functions but just read the book. (6 hours flight helped that)
I absolutely love this camera. I bought it over the summer because my old camera died. I bought it mostly because my friends all have pools and I thought it would be fun to have pictures from goofing around in the pools. The pictures came out amazing and really clear underwater. The pictures come out really awesome when the camera isn't underwater. My only complaint is that sometimes the shutter is a bit slow, but besides that its amazing! Would recommend this to anyone. Also has really awesome features that allow you to do some sweet things while taking pictures [:
Pros: awesome battery life, good underwater pictures, good normal pictures, easy to use, awesome features
