D10 -- Love it!

I bought the Powershot D10 and took it to the Caribbean- beautiful shots. I adore the versatility of the camera and it is very convenient to go to the beach in a storm and take great pictures without worrying that the water is going to ruin the camera. I was looking for a camera to snorkle with that also took good night shots. I really wanted something that performs well in low-light conditions and I've found it. I even took pictures while speeding down the side of a mountain to test the image stability - no problems for this camera. Crisp, lovely pictures -- macros included
Pros: imagine stability in fast moving car, good pictures in low-light conditions, great close-ups, fabulous portraits, smart auto features move from one shot to another, underwater shots!!, night shots, great for storms

So far we have shot 4GB and all images came out perfectly. Pictures are clear. Color is fantastic. IS seem to be functioning properly. All functions are in the typical Canon location. Haven't tried underwater yet, but soon. My kids love the camera. I don't have to worry about them dropping or spilling drinks all over it.
Pros: sharp photo, sturdy feel, nice clear lcd, it's a canon!!!
Cons: needs better zooming, design could be slimmer

Great Performance

After dropping my old digital in the water, I read the reviews and bought this camera. Most of my digital work is with a Nikon SLR, so I was greatly surprised that this camera could keep up in picture quality.
It is bulky...not for the pocket. But it floats!! And the
picture quality and features are comparable to the SLR.
I'm very impressed. The battery sits in the camera waiting
to be used for several weeks at a time. I LOVE this camera.

LCD failed first time underwater
on May 2, 2010

Purchased this camera first for a rafting trip in the Grand Canyon - quality of photos and zoom were fantastic - no issues with the splash from the river - and I had easy access (strapped it to my life vest). Size and functionality perfect....
Then I took it to a dive trip in Cozumel. The first time the camera was completely submerged - only 2 feet of water - and the LCD failed, never to return. AND, I was the second person that week to have the Canon D10 LCD fail - on only a 10 person dive boat.
If the product itself had not failed, I would have been extremely satisfied with this camera.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought a D10 because I spend a lot of time outdoors, and I wanted a camera that could handle winter weather. After using my D10 for several years I have been very happy with the picture quality as well as the movies I make.
On 1/27/2012 after ice climbing I discovered the camera came out of the case while walking down a canyon. Unable to find it in the snow I went home. Last weekend 6/10/2012 I went back into the canyon to look for it. To my surprise I found it laying next to a bush. I picked it up turned it on and took a picture. Not only did it take the picture but it downloaded all the pictures from my ice climb 5 months before when I got home. It still works perfect. The camera has been at 7,000 feet for 5 months, through 4 snow storms, 2 rain storms, single digit tempertures and now laying in the sun for several months. I don't know what more anyone could put this camera through. If you need a camera that can take the weather this camera has been tested.

Outstanding outdoor camera

This is a super shallow-water snorking and dive camera. I purchased it in November based on the professional reviews and holding one in a camera store. I was immediately amazed with the features, construction, and performance above water and took it with us on a trip to Key West, where it got wet and was used extensively whenever the big DSLR was just not practical. The performance underwater was flawless, and when used in the program mode it took sharp, color-balanced, and well exposed images of everything I aimed it at. The start-up and first shot delay were so short that I never missed a fish, diver, or scene that I wanted to capture. I just hope Canon will build an outer waterproof case to allow going to 120 feet, and/or add a deep water version soon.
Pros: very prectical
Cons: need more depth waterproofing

Great outdoor Camera
on July 5, 2009

I bought this camera after doing a lot of research online for a good underwater camera. Out of all of the reviews and articles I read it named this camera as being the best. I must say though, that when I got to the store I was really tempted on buying the slimmer, sleeker competitor's camera which the sale rep was recommending, but I held my ground, stuck with what I know and bought the Canon D10. They did offer me 5 days to bring it back if I changed my mind and wanted to get the Competitor's one. I don’t think I will be though.
As first glance, the camera seems really bulky compared to my other canon elph, and even the first couple pictures I took in-doors didn’t seem all that much better than with my old camera which only had 5 mega pixel. I was really hoping this new camera could replace my old one, but after using it over the weekend, it really seems more like a vacation camera or one I would take when I know I wanted good pictures, not something I can tote around with me in my purse. Besides that, all the outdoor picture and underwater pictures and video I took came out great! I got some really great shot of my son’s first time swimming without floaties, which was well worth it right there. I also used the fireworks setting, but didn’t care for it much. I think the regular night setting works better. Also, my computer won’t expect the program c.d. so I can’t view the videos, but my computer is on the old side, so maybe won’t be a problem for most.
So the outcome is, I wish it was smaller and thinner so I could use it as an everyday camera (especially after what I paid for it) but it is a great outdoor/vacation camera. I’m looking forward to using it on our 2 upcoming vacations to Naples and Mexico. Oh! and buy a case, I dropped it just once slightly on the cement, and it already has a few nicks in it.
Pros: great underwater pictures and video
Cons: camera is big and bulky

Good for outdoor dirty work
on October 8, 2009

I don't scuba. I use this as a job camera. It works great in the rain and cold and I don't worry as much about gumming it up with dirty fingers since it is all sealed. Shock resistance is a great feature, I usually ruin cameras by dropping them. Images are excellent, even close up. The zoom is only 3x, but with 12 mp I can always crop and still get a nice image. Canon should market this camera as a job camera, not just a vacation camera.
Pros: shock resistant, great for dirty conditions, rain proof
Cons: won't fit in my pocket
I would recommend this to a friend!
