Perfect for me!

I really like this little camera! I bought it a year ago after losing many vacation pictures when my camera got wet jumping onto the beach from a Panga Boat in Mexico.
I do a lot of outdoor stuff. Hunting, Fishing, etc. Now I don't have to worry about losing that trophy fish photo.
I took it on a trip to China shortly after buying it and just got back from a Midddle East trip. I could not be more pIeased. I was and still am amazed at how it takes great low light pictures. Even though it only has a 3 power zoom I still can get some great distance shots. My freinds all want one now.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
I would recommend this to a friend!

I've had this camera since October 2009 and I am very pleased. I am satisified with the quaility of the photos and the durability of the camera.
I recently went to a waterpark with this camera and dropped it on the ground, Not only did it fall, but it bounced a few times. I knew it was over for this camera but to my surprise, not a scratch and it came on instantly.
The only con about this camera is that it is bulky. I only use it when I know I am going to be around or in water. For everyday use, I have a canon 1400
Pros: Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: bulky

Our family loves this camera. Took video while scuba diving (shallow dives), snorkling and playing in the surf. Takes great pictures under water or above. Have taken incredible pictures in the surf, in water caves, etc. that I never could have gotten with my 7D.
Pros: takes great pictures. excellent color
Cons: can at times be little slow to focus under water.

Stay away from this one

I bought this camera when preparing for a trip to the Caribbean. Everything looked great when I got the camera and tested at home. As soon as I got in the salt water the rear display quit working. I got back on the boat and tried a few things to determine that the camera was still taking photos even though I couldn't see them. This brings new meaning to the term Point and Shoot. After a day out of the water the display came back on but but quit again as soon as I got in the water again. I sent the camera back to Canon when I got home and they sent me a refurbished camera to replace my new one. The new D10 did work well on a trip to the Grand Canyon but it also died when I took it on a rafting trip in Idaho. I think I took a total of 500 photos with it.
Cons: doesn't work in water

Bought two, both failed to work very long.

We bought one of these for a trip to the Florida keys. I had read reviews that it was having issues with the LCD screen messing up or video footage having lines through it and being messed up, but I figured it didn't hurt to try since there were also great reviews.
Basically, while it worked, it was great. During our big trip to the reefs though, it started having all the same issues everyone else mentioned. It was such a bummer! That day we ordered a second one with overnight shipping so we could use one for the rest of the vacation. It continued to work for the rest of that vacation all the way through our second vacation 2 years later. By the third vacation though, it also ended up with the same problems.
This year we are again headed to the beach, so instead of buying this one, I am trying the newer D30. Here's to hoping it doesn't have any problems :)
My thought is that maybe the salt water causes problems that Canon hasn't thought of? If you decide to purchase the camera, just know that it would be good to purchase it with a warranty. The first one broke a few months after purchasing. The other lasted about three years and then started having issues.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This camera is a must have. My wife and I received this camera as one of our wedding presents. I must say that this gift ended up being one of our favorites. We took this on our honeymoon and dunked, dropped it (15 feet into 3 inches of water), abused it, loved it, snorkeled with it, recorded video, etc... It still works like new. It took all of our abuse and doesn't differ from when we first took it out of the box. If you are a traveler and need a camera you can trust that takes excellent, and I mean gorgeous pictures, buy this one. TIP, I recommend keeping it on the vivid setting for all your shots. I am really fond of this device. I have played with all of the settings and must say the user interface is so easy anyone would be able to understand it. So don't get swindled into buying something you don't need or don't want. Buy this one. Trust me you will be so amazed you too will come back to this site and write your own review.
Pros: every feature
Cons: can't think of one
