Epson GT-1500....poor software...difficult to inst

I have installed many printers/copiers without problems. The GT-1500 has defeated me. The instructions are confusing and I installed the software for Windows 7 three times and still neither the Epson Scan nor the Event Manager work.
I am really frustrated.
I will take it back to the store and buy a different scanner.
After all the years of PC development, it should nto be this hard.

Epson vs Mac

Do not buy this printer without first finding out if you can get it to work with Mac. I have tried for several days - hours at a time - to download driver and utilities that would enable the automatic document feeder (the main reason that I purchased this scanner); but to no avail. The box and information say that it is compatible - read the reviews.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I bought this to scan a BUNCH of sheet music that I had printed over the years. This things works really well. Super fast, no problems with it grabbing more than one sheet at a time. Much faster than scanners I've used previously!
I would recommend this to a friend!

GT1500 Software Incompatibility

The scanner worked well out of the box BUT....It only includes drivers for XP and does not support Windows 7 out of the box. Of course, you can download the newer drivers and control software from Epson's web site but why not include the newer drivers - it's not like Windows 7 just appeared yesterday. After updating the drivers I tried to get the scanner to work with Paperport 14. No way. The two just don't get along. So one has to scan using the native control software and then use Paperport later to organize the scans. Not the neatest solution but I suppose after all the machinations the result is OK. Just a lot more work than it should be. Still the machine works well and the scans are very good, so for the price paid it's still a good deal.

Hardware is a good value; however the software is awkward and appears to be out of date...I cannot quickly scan and tag and file documents....makes scanner useless..
