Our family DOES floss and so they liked the idea of the air/water flosser. Everyone used either the air feature; or used it with mouthwash or peroxide or just plain water. We bought a two pack.
First, one of the battery chargers died. Then one of the flossers would not recharge. Needless to say, the air flossers are OF NO USE to us now.
It has ended up being VERY Very very expensive floss! We bought it because we believed that Phillips was a reliable manufacturer. We have spoken to others who have bought the air flosser and they had similar issues. Just wished we had waited till more reviews came out.
Pros: neat idea
Cons: not reliable, expensive, did not last but a several months
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased one, easy to use but it died in two months. It did not work long enough.
Pros: ergonomic, easy to use
Cons: it died too soon, poor reliability, not well manufactured

I think the product was helping with my oral care, but I am not a dental professional, and as the unit only lasted 14 days, I am not sure my hygienist would be able to evaluate. It is a little messy - but what do you expect when you are delivering water into your mouth.
I must concur with the other reviewers on this page regarding the design or durability of the product.

Nearly Dead on Arrival

I should have read reviews first. I purchased a unit and in less than a month it died. After reading reviews I decided on a refund rather than a replacement. Don't even waste your time investing in one.
Pros: when it works it is a great product.
Cons: it is not a well manufactured product.

Dies in Every 6 months

I feel quite clean and fresh in my mouth and teeth after using.
However, the machine dies every 6 months.
I am so tired of going to replace it again and again.
Having the machine becomes a nightmare, cuz you won't know when it's broken again.

It leaks

I've just bought Philips Airfloss couple days ago. It is great and I love it. I don't have to use needle floss anymore. However after a few days of using, it starts leaking from the reservoir. At first, I thought I didn't close the cap properly, so I start carefully close the cap after I refill the reservoir and take note. The problem didn't go away and it keeps leaking constantly. I contacted Philips's Customer Care and they are sending me a new one. Hopefully the new one won't leak.
I love the Philips Airfloss but the leaking problem is the biggest draw back of this product. So it's 3 stars.

after using this product for less than a year it started spraying water from the base of the nozzle a few months later it would blow the nozzle off of the base I tried new nozzles with the same problem. Phillips need to address this issue.

BEST FLOSSING METHOD OUT THERE TODAY

I have owned and used this Air Flosser for the past two years and can honestly tell you it is a fantastic product.
I learned about it after purchasing a Phillips Sonic Toothbrush which I have also had for three years with no problems. The Air Flosser has helped me greatly with my periodontal gum disease. The last time I went in for my dental cleaning, I was completely taken back when the hygienist said that my pockets were not receding and they were getting smaller. I was completely taken back and asked her if she was sure and she rechecked the charts with present measurements and said yes they were shrinking. I have never had that experience before using this Air Flosser. I used to floss occasionally the conventional way and found it was difficult to reach the back teeth and did not look forward to doing it. Now, with the Air Flosser, I enjoy the convenience and the speed of getting a professional clean mouth and gum line in my own home every day. I have not had any issues with the Air Flosser and have even traveled with it. It always works...I use just plain tap water and leave it on the charging base. I do empty the remaining water and leave the water door flap open so that the inside water chamber can completely dry out before the next usage.
It's a bit of an investment, but it will be worth it for you if you have an issue with flossing and gum disease.
