was a great tv until recently

I bought this tv in 2011. I had a problem with the remote not working a few months after i bought it but being under warranty fixed that issue. However, the new problem is WAY more irritating....the volume will randomly turn all the way up to 100! I can't use the remote to control it. I have to turn it down on the tv itself. Other times, when i try to turn it down that way, the menu will pop up instead of turning down the volume. The menu and volume buttons aren't near each other. So why is the menu popping up when I press the volume down button? So then i have to turn the tv off and back on again. This is happening more and more often. My warranty expired 2 months ago. Not sure what I'm gonna do, but it sure makes me think twice about buying a Philips ever again, even though it took me 4 years to have a serious problem with this tv. I feel like because I take good care of it, it should last a lot longer than that.
Pros: no picture problems
Cons: serious volume issues
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have had this product for 4 years in December and I have never had a problem with it. I watch a lot of football so as long as my tv is on the HD channel then the picture seems so real. Never had a problem with the remote but then again I use my TiVo remote for everything. Now looking to purchase this tv in 55" or bigger for my living room.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This TV has performed incredibly well for nearly eight years without a single breakdown. Sometimes, the audio does not come on immediately upon turning on the TV, but it comes on with 60 seconds, and this is a rare occurence. It is great!
Pros: beautiful picture quality and sound.

I have 2 Philips TVs and had chose this brand due to the great overall picture. But I have had issues with the sound on the older 32" TV after a couple of years. The sound will just stop after being on for awhile and will have to turn it off or change the channel to get the sound back. The 47" TV had sound issues right after purchase in Dec. 2009. I would turn it on and there would be no sound. After multiple times of turning off and on it would usually come back, but sometimes I would turn off and try again later. The mother board was replaced and it still did the same thing. I was shipped another TV and shipped the other back. I have had this 2nd TV for less than a year and this one has done the same thing with the sound. It doesn't happen as often as the 1st TV but has happened 3 times at this point. So...this is why I will probably not purchase another Philips TV in the future.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This TV could use a couple more optional connection types.
1) phone line connection to simplify downloads
2) avg connection, would allow for more devices to communicate
with TV. This would eliminate complex wiring to be done
by most end users.
